U–PB ZIRCON GEOCHRONOLOGY, GEOCHEMICAL AND SR–ND ISOTOPIC CHARACTERISTIC OF LATE NEOPROTEROZAIC GRANITOIDS OF TAKNAR ZONE CENTER, BORNAWARD-TAKNAR MINE AREA (BARDASKAN-NE IRAN)

Abstract

 THROUGHOUT EARTH’S HISTORY, ALL VOLCANOGENIC MASSIVE SULFIDE (VMS) -HOSTING ENVIRONMENTS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH SPECIFIC ASSEMBLAGES OF MAFIC AND FELSIC ROCKS WITH DISTINCT PETROCHEMISTRY (PETRO-CHEMICAL ASSEMBLAGES) INDICATIVE OF FORMATION AT ANOMALOUSLY HIGH TEMPERATURES WITHIN EXTENSIONAL GEODYNAMIC ENVIRONMENTS. THE STUDY AREA (BORNAWARD-TAKNAR GRANITOID) IS LOCATED IN NORTH EDGING OF THE LUT BLOCK IN NORTHEAST OF IRAN (KHORASAN RAZAVI PROVINCE), ABOUT 55 KM NORTHWEST OF KASHMAR CITY AND 28 KM NORTHWEST OF BARDASKAN CITY. TAKNAR ZONE IS AN EXOTIC BLOCK, BORDERED BY TWO MAJOR FAULTS, GREAT KAVIR FAULT (DROUNEH) TO THE SOUTH AND RIVASH FAULT IN THE NORTH. THE ROCKS OF GRANITE, GRANOPHYRIC GRANITE, LEUCOGRANITE, SYENOGRANITE, GRANODIORITE, PORPHYRY MONZOGRANITE, DIORITE, MICRODIORITE, GABBRO, MICROGABBRO AND DOLERITE IS LOCATED AT THE CENTER OF TAKNAR ZONE. THEY ARE NAMED AS BORNAWARD GRANITOID COMPLEX (BGC).THE RESULTS OF U-PB ZIRCON DATING ON GRANITE AND GRANODIORITE SAMPLES BELONGED TO TAKNAR MINE AREA (WEST OF STUDY AREA) SHOW THAT DATE OF GRANITE IS 538.22+4.28, -1.82 MA AND GRANODIORITE IS 552.69±10.89 MA (LATE NEOPROTEROZOIC TIME). LATE NEOPROTEROZOIC MAGMATISM IN THE TAKNAR ZONE PRODUCED VOLUMINOUS S- AND I- TYPE GRANITES, AND SPARSE A-TYPE GRANITES.GRANITE AND GRANODIORITE IN TAKNAR MINE AREA ARE CLASSIFIED AS BELONGING TO THE ILMENITE-SERIES OF REDUCED S-TYPE GRANITOIDS, AND SMALL BEARING-MAGNETITE GRANITE BODIES (BORNAWARD AREA) IS CLASSIFIED AS BELONGING TO THE MAGNETITE-SERIES OF OXIDIZED I-TYPE GRANITOID. ALSO, IN BORNAWARD AREA (EAST OF STUDY AREA) EXIST OTHER SMALL BEARING-MAGNETITE GRANITE BODIES IS CLASSIFIED AS BELONGING TO THE MAGNETITE-SERIES OF OXIDIZED AND HAVE CHARACTERISTIC OF A-TYPE GRANITE.CHEMICALLY, THE GRANITOIDS OF STUDY AREA ARE HIGH METALUMINOUS TO LOW-HIGH PERALUMINOUS AND BELONGED TO THOLEIITE, CALC-ALKALINE TO HIGH-K CALC-ALKALINE WITH ENRICHED IN CS, RB, U, LA, ND, HF, ZR AND Y AND DEPLETED IN BA, NB, TA, SR AND TI. CHONDRITE- NORMALIZED RARE EARTH ELEMENTS (REES) PLOTS INDICATE MINOR ENRICHMENTS OF LREES IN COMPARISON WITH HREES, WITH (LA/YB) N BETWEEN 1.8-5.3 AND REES OF SAMPLES BETWEEN 44.8 (MIN.) AND 293.5 PPM (MAX.) WITH STRONG NEGATIVE ANOMALY OF EU OTHER THAN RARE EARTH ELEMENTS.BORNAWARD GRANITOID HAVE A INITIAL 87 SR/ 86 SR AND 143 ND/ 144 ND RANGING FROM 0.713566 TO 0.716888 AND 0.511791 TO 0.511842, RESPECTIVELY, WHEN RECALCULATED TO AN AGE OF 552.69 TO 538.22 MA, CONSISTENT WITH THE NEW RADIOMETRIC RESULTS. INITIAL END ISOTOPE VALUES FOR GRANITE AND GRANODIORITE RANGE FROM -2.62 TO -2.01. TDM AGE OF GRANITE AND GRANODIORITE IS 1.4-1.41 GA. THIS INDICATES THAT THE GRANITE AND GRANODIORITE BEING DERIVED FROM PARTIAL MELTING OF DISTINCT BASEMENT SOURCE REGIONS WITH VERY HIGH INITIAL 87SR/ 86SR.
