Abstract

 MERCURY (II) BOROMID REACT WITH A PHOSPHONIUM SALT COMPUND OF THE TYPE [PHCH2COOCH2P (PH) 3] BR (1) IN METHANOL AS A SOLVENT IN EQUIMOLAR RATIOS TO GIVE A COMPOUND OF THE FORMULA [PHCH2COOCH2P (PH) 3] 2 [HG2BR6] (2). CHARACTERIZATION OF THE OBTAINED COMPOUND WAS PERFORMED BY ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS, IR, 1H, 13C AND 31P NMR SPECTROSCOPY. ALSO THE STRUCTURE OF 2 WAS DETERMINED BY X-RAY CRYSTALLOGRAPHY.
