Abstract

 BACKGROUND AND AIM: ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII IS A UBIQUITOUS PATHOGEN WITH PROPENSITY TO CAUSE LARGE, OFTEN MULTIFACILITY, NOSOCOMIAL OUTBREAKS AND CAUSE MENINGITIS, OSTEOMYELITIS, PNEUMONIA, SEPTICEMIA THAT PARTICULARLY AFFECTS PATIENTS IN THE INTENSIVE CARE AND BURN UNIT. IT HAS BECOME A SERIOUS CHALLENGE TO NEW HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS WITH STRONG CAPACITY TO DEVELOP ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE. QUICK AND ACCURATE DETECTION IS CHALLENGING IN MANY MICROBIAL DIAGNOSTIC APPROACHES. DNA APTAMERS ARE ALTERNATIVE LIGANDS TO CAPTURE PATHOGENS. THEY HAVE LOTS OF ADVANTAGES OVER ANTIBODIES SUCH AS, HIGH TARGET SPECIFICITY, LOWER COST & IMMUNOGENICITY, SMALL SIZE, EASE OF SYNTHESIS AND LABELING. ISOLATED APTAMER SEQUENCE ARE GENERATED THROUGH THE SYSTEMATIC EVOLUTION OF LIGANDS BY EXPONENTIAL ENRICHMENT (SELEX) PROCESS, A TECHNIQUE USED FOR THE SCREENING OF LARGE LIBRARIES OF OLIGONUCLEOTIDES BY AN ITERATIVE PROCESS OF IN VITRO SELECTION AND AMPLIFICATION…..
