Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: TRUSS SPAR PLATFORM IS ONE OF THE MOST SUITABLE AND ECONOMICAL VESSELS FOR EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION OF OIL AND GAS FROM THE RESERVOIRS IN DEEP SEAS. THE SPAR PLATFORM HAS A UNIQUE CONFIGURATION WHICH DISTINCT IT FROM THE OTHER FLOATING SYSTEMS. THESE PLATFORMS ARE DESIGNED FOR PROPER MOTIONS IN THE VERTICAL DIRECTION WITH DEEP DRAFT. IN FACT, DUE TO THEIR DEEP DRAFT AND INSTALLATION OF THE SOFT TANK IN THE KEEL AND THE HARD TANK IN THE UPPER PART OF THE PLATFORM WHICH ARE SEPARATED BY A TRUSS MID-SECTION, THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE CENTER OF GRAVITY AND THE CENTER OF BUOYANCY IS SUFFICIENT ENOUGH TO GIVE THEM MORE STABILITY IN THE VERTICAL DIRECTION.
