The Effectiveness of Emotional Intelligence Training on School Engagement, Academic Help Seeking in Self-efficacy of Male Junior High School Students

Abstract

 The progress of any society depends on paying attention to the emotional and educational status of the students of that society as the future makers of the society. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of effectiveness of Emotional intelligence training on School engagement, Academic help seeking in Self-efficacy of male junior high school students. The research was quasiexperimental with pre-test and post-test design with control group. All male students studying in the secondary school of Tehran in the academic year 2021 formed the statistical population of this study. Among them, 30 people who met the criteria for participation in the study were selected by available sampling method and divided into two groups of 15 people. The active school participation questionnaire, academic help questionnaire and general Self-efficacy questionnaire were used to collect data. The results showed that training in the method of Emotional intelligence in the post-test stage in the subjects of the experimental group led to an improvement in the scores of active participations in school, but no significant change was observed in the participation score of school subjects in the control group. Also, the results of analysis of covariance showed that in the post-test stage, there is a statistically significant difference between the mean total score of academic aid and the feeling of efficiency of the subjects in the two groups. Considering the positive effects of Emotional intelligence training, it is recommended that teachers and instructors of education by teaching this method in schools and creating suitable conditions for emotional and academic growth have more opportunities to increase academic performance in students.
