Background and objective: Health as one of the main meta-paradigm of health theories is set next to concepts of human and the environment. Health has objective and subjective dimensions which unfortunately less attention has been paid to the subjective dimension. The aim of this study is to determine the level of subjective well-being and related factors among students of GUMS.Methods: This descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study was done on 314 students from the GUMS, which were selected through stratified random sampling. Research instrument of subjective well-being was: The standard questionnaire of life satisfaction (SWLS) and the Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS). For data analysis SPSS21 was used.Findings: Students' levels of subjective well-being in cognitive dimension was high and in emotional dimension was low. There was significant negative relationship between positive affect and student's courses of education (p<0.05). In addition, there was a significant relationship between gender and negative affect, also between marital status and satisfaction with life (p<0.05).Conclusion: In general, the level of subjective well-being in students of GUMS was low. Meanwhile the suitable cognitive and emotional dimensions of subjective well-being were fundamental necessity for the suitable social role playing. Therefore paying attention to cognitive and emotional dimensions of subjective well-being and factors affecting in this important group have a paramount importance.

Abstract:

This article is devoted to designing a model for measuring the social dimensions of subjective well-being. To achieve this goal, availab and related theoretical foundations were studied to provide a proper understanding of this dimension and its indicators and references. Due to the conceptual ambiguity in this field at first different synonyms and definitions were studied. In order to achieve the social dimension of subjective well-being, in addition to studying the documents, interviews were conducted with experts working in this field and were used their views on the design of the model. Finally, six indicators were used to measure this dimension: Social Security, Social Justice, Social Acceptance, Social Integration, Social Actualization, Social Contribution, Social Coherence. Then the model was executed among 700 students in Tehran. After removing items with a total load of less than 0.4, the following three conditions were established: 1. The factor loads of the items are all positive and consistent.2. Factor loads of all items are more than 0.4.3.Factor loads obtained at a lower order are larger than the higher order. Finally, a questionnaire with 89 items was obtained for measuring the social dimension of mental well-being. For more explicit analysis of the model, the hidden variables were examined separately. The combined trust coefficient of higher order variables confirms the capability of the model and its components and shows a cutoff point higher than 0.7: social justice (0.907), social integration (0.884), social flourishing (0.831), Social acceptance (0.876), social participation (0.829), social security (0.806), mental well-being (0.954).Validity at factor level and using the Fornell and Larcker index indicate that the factor of the low-order factors, which is the root of the AVE, is higher than all the row and column coefficients in which it is positioned and represents the overall model's audit validity.

identifying the factors associated with mental well-being of the elderly is one of the favorite topics of aging psychology. The purpose of this study is the role of social support, spiritual well-being and self-efficacy in predicting subjective well-being of the elderly. This is structured based on descriptive method and is a correlational study, and the statistical population of it are all aged people in Shiraz. In this study, 350 older people aged more than 60 years were selected by random cluster sampling from different areas of Shiraz city to participate in the study. Social support questionnaire (Winefield, Winefield, & Tiggemann, 1992), spiritual well-being (Palvtzyn & Ellison, 1982), self-efficacy (scherrer et al., 1998), and subjective well-being (Gayyers & Margamyv, 2003) were used to collect information. The data using Pearson correlation coefficient showed meaningful and positive relationship between social support variables with each variable of spiritual well-being, self-efficacy and subjective well-being (P<0.001). Multivariate regression analysis showed that 85 percent of the variance in subjective well-being of the elderly is explained by the support of family and friends, religious well-being, self-well-being and self-efficacy. The results of this study had significant implications about the importance of independent variables in maintaining emotional, social and psychological well-being of the elderly.

Background and Aim: The present research aimed to study the psychometric characteristics of a subjective well-being questionnaire among high school students.Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study. A total of 400 high school students (200 boys and 200 girls) in the City of Ghom, Iran were selected by multistage cluster sampling. Data were collected using the Oxford subjective well-being and happiness inventory questionnaire. Factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha coefficient and the Pearson correlation test were used to analyze the data. Results: Factor analysis showed that the scale was saturated with four factors. In addition, Pearson correlation test indicated that subjective well-being was positively associated (p<0.01) with happiness (r=0.27), discipline (r=0.11) and academic achievement (r=0.28). Also the reliability of the subjective well-being questionnaire using Cronbach's alpha was found to be 0.87 for the total scale and 0.69, 0.85, 0.73 and 0.78 for the subscales school connectedness, joy of learning, educational purpose and academic efficacy, respectively; these findings indicate that the tool used was quite good and reliable. Conclusions: Based on the findings is concluded that the Persian version of the subjective wellbeing questionnaire is an acceptable tool to determine the psychometric characteristics of high school students and can be used as a valid instrument in psychological research.

Abstract:

This research has been done to constructing a valid instrument to evaluate of quality of life, and also an explanation of relationship between quality of life and subjective well-being. 500 teachers from different sector of Tehran city systematic randomly completed the quality of life questionnaire and subjective well-being scale. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between sub-scales of quality of life (life equipment's, physical health, life meaning) with life satisfaction as a sub-scale of subjective well-being, but not with subjective well-being. Have a good quality of life is not mean as a good subjective well-being, because a good quality of live can produce a life satisfaction of life, but not to produce a good subjective well-being.

Abstract:

Introduction & Objective: Subjective Well-being is one of the important indicators for the evaluation of mental health status and screening mental health problems in general population including university students is necessary. So, this study was carried out in order to assess subjective well-being and its related factors in the students of KNMF, in 2008.Materials & Methods: In this cross- sectional study, 161 students were selected through random stratified method. Data was collected by Q-LES-QSF and a questionnaire which was about possible related factors to subjective well-being. Subjective well-being status was determined in a scale of 0-100, and its limits were calculated with %95 confidence. The data was analyzed using Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-wallis test and stepwise multivariate linear regression analysis. Results: Q-LES-QSF score was 57.04±19.17 (%95 CLM=54.07-60.01). There was a significant relationship between the students' interest in the major of study and subjective well-being (p<0.006). In this study, the effect of disease suffering on subjective well-being was also confirmed (p=0.000). Regression analysis showed that %44.1 of the observed variance in the status of subjective well-being had been determined by 3 variables of disease suffering, interest in the major of study, and the semester number (F=29.153, p=0.000) while disease suffering explains %34 of the total variance alone. Conclusion: Subjective well-being level in the students of KNMF is low. Introducing the majors of study to the students before entering to the university and further notice to their mental & physical health especially in the first years of education seems to improve their subjective well-being.
