Abstract:

With the development of visual communication in the present age, the analysis and reading of visual texts in order to decipher the meanings and express their meanings is of particular importance. Critical discourse analysis, as one of the approaches that considers both the context of the text and the social context of the text, has made it possible to study discourses in works of art. The purpose of this paper is to introduce visual discourse or visuality as a way to analyze images, and its theoretical framework is dedicated to reviewing the critical visual methodology, which is an integrated model of Rose and Fairclough methodology. In the process of analysis, the Mellat Bank's advertising campaign has been visually criticized in order to elucidate its visual discourse based on the textual components of the images and the fields of its representation. The structure of technology, the configuration of images, and the social effects of visual components are discussed in the sites of the text, discourse action, and social action. The findings of the research indicate that the discourse function of this campaign is to highlight the value of money as national and cultural capital and to promote empathy and patriotism in the audience, during which the Mellat Bank changes its identity from a financial institution to a cultural institution.

Abstract:

Should a scholar patiently examine the Khaqani Divan,s he would notice the following issues therein: a. Utilir, ation of a wide range of scientific terms. b. Interest in finding and applying novel imageries. c. Eagerness to apply rhythm and rhyme d. Applying unfamiliar terms e. self praise and self centeredness, etc... The present study engages with these issues in their entirety. I foreshadowed in the essay published in the special issue for the commemoration of the late Dr. Gholamhossein Yousefi to return to the poet of Shervan and complement the study of Khaqani already started. I am glad to seize this opportunity' to continue this enterprise in my paper "Another View of Khaqani". This would be both a bridge between past and present as well as to do justice to the poet. The main thrust of this paper is to gauge the poetics of Kaqani's poetry from different perspectives.

Abstract:

We give an overview of the running time analysis of the random divide-and-conquer algorithm FIND or QUICKSELECT. The results concern moments, distribution of FINDs running time, the limiting distribution, a stochastic bound and the key: a stochastic fixed point equation.

Abstract:

Introduction: Weakness in visual perception is one of the cases noticed in children with learning disorders, and strengthening this weakness improves their academic performance. Aim: The present study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the educational package based on lateral dominance in visual recognition, visual memory and visual completion of 7-12-year-old children with learning disorders. Method: The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design and a control group. A total of 30 children (18 female and 12 male subjects) from elementary school children diagnosed with learning disorders in the psychological clinics of Tehran, Iran, in 2020 were conveniently and voluntarily selected and then randomly assigned to two experimental (n=15) and control (n=15) groups. The Edinburg Handedness Inventory (1970), Delacato’, s Neurodevelopmental Table (1997) and Gardner’, s Visual Perception Test (1982) were used to collect the data. The SPSS-25, descriptive-inferential indices, univariate analysis of covariance and multivariate analysis of covariance were used to analyze the data. Results: The results showed that the educational package based on lateral dominance affected the visual recognition (P<0. 01, F=31. 38) and visual memory (P<0. 1, F=14. 68) components of children with learning disorders in the experimental group and did not affect the visual completion component. Conclusion: Lateral dominance exercises help students perform better in visual perception. Therefore, it is suggested to include lateral dominance exercises in the treatment program for children with learning disorders to improve their visual perception.

Abstract:

Background and purpose: Cognitive problems after traumatic brain injury may affect all aspects of life in injured people. One of these problems is visuospatial working memory deficit which was investigated in this study on patients with mild head injury.Materials and methods: We conducted a cohort study in 60 patients with mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI) and 60 healthy cases in Trauma Research Center (TRC) affiliated with Kashan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. The subjects were followed for 6 months after which Benton Visual Retention Test (BVRT) (form C, administration methods A and D) was used for their assessment. T test, Chi-square test and repeated One-way ANOVA were used for the analysis of data. P≤0.05 was considered significant. Results: The two groups were significantly different in their correct scores in administrations A and D of Benton test (P≤0.05). The results indicated a correlation between the sites of injury and number of correct scores in visual memories of MTBI patients (P=0.003).Conclusion: Impaired spatial visual memory in MTBI patients in concordance with other findings in this field are in favor of significant functional problems in this group which mandates a more prolonged systematic approach and better follow up plans to overcome many hidden difficulties these people experience.

Abstract:

Background and Purpose: Regarding the cognitive abilities of people with hearing impairment, memory has attracted attention of specialists. Especially the role of visual memory in remembering and recall of visual cues such as sign language and cued speech is frequently studied. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of visual perception on short-term visual memory of male hearing-impaired students.Method: The method of this research was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test/post-test design and control group. Among of the all of the boy’s students with hearing impairment in Tehran, thirty-six of students of Baghcheban School were selected through convenience sampling. They were then equally assigned to two groups (control and experiment). After 10 session intervention on experimental group, data were collected by Kim karad visual memory test. Results: Analysis of covariance showed that visual skills training significantly affected on improve of short-term visual memory on children with hearing damage. Conclusion: For improving visual memory in children with hearing impairment can be used of visual perception skills, because this perceptual skills makes activation areas related to visual memory and thus improves the visual memory.
