Abstract:

Background & Aims: The purpose of this study was to compare the religious beliefs and sexual satisfaction of women with and without meta-relationships. Materials & Methods: The research design was causal-comparative. The study population consisted of all women who referred to psychology and psychiatry clinics in Tehran in 1977, who had a history of extra-marital relationships, and women with no extra-marital relationships, including 60 women with purposeful and extra-marital relationships. Sixty women without meta-relationships were randomly selected and evaluated using the Hudson Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire and the Temple Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using two-tailed independent t-test and multivariate analysis of variance. Results: The findings of the study showed that women with extra-marital relationships show lower sexual satisfaction and practice of religious beliefs than women without extra-marital relationships. Conclusion: Women who were more inclined and scored higher in the Religious Beliefs Questionnaire were not involved in extramarital affairs, and this could confirm the need to pay attention and cultivate religious beliefs among community members in order to survive and maintain the family.

Abstract:

Extramarital affairs are one of the harms of the family institution that fundamentally affects the couple's relationship. this study aimed to identify the process of formation of extramarital relationships between couples. The research method of the present study was based on a qualitative approach and using the narrative interview technique. The statistical sample of the study was 20 people who referred to the court and law offices of Mashhad and the sample size was determined based on the information saturation rule. In the analysis of interviews, 13 main categories and 39 subcategories were extracted. The relationships between the main categories showed that extramarital relationships are created through a four-step process. These stages include contextual conditions, causal conditions, strategies, and intervening conditions that have led to the tendency to extramarital relationships and, ultimately, the establishment of extramarital relationships. Finally, the core category of this research was "weakening the codes of honor in today's society. "

Abstract:

Extramarital affairs are one of the main harmful factors in the structure and stability of the family as they have harmful individual, family, and social consequences. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to identify and prioritize the factors affecting the formation of extramarital relationships. The research method used is Q, and the data collection tool is a researcher-made questionnaire. The statistical sample using purposive sampling method includes 40 experts and activists in the field of social harms (extramarital affairs). The results of the study lead to the extraction of four main factors of marital infidelity: sociocultural (the effect of virtual social networks, reduced attitudes towards moral values, inappropriate marriage, etc. ), psychological (experience of premarital sex, suffering from mental, mood, and personality disorders, poor communication and life skills training, etc. ), economic (family financial and livelihood problems, earning and materialism, male unemployment), and family (revenge on the spouse, lack of adherence to marital obligations, monotony in marital relations, etc. ). Lack of understanding, comprehension, and interpretation of the deep layers of this complex and multidimensional problem and ways to reduce it will lead to further disintegration of the family institution.

Abstract:

Extramarital relationships are defined and interpreted differently across societies, cultures, and even among individuals, and have always been a source of controversy. According to research findings, the way individuals define and interpret extramarital relationships predicts their involvement in such relationships. Therefore, one of the most important aspects of examining extramarital relationships is addressing individuals' perspectives about them. Accordingly, this paper aims to explore the interpretations and meanings that married people assign to these relationships by utilizing a qualitative research approach. In performing the objective of this analysis, eighteen married people - Tehran residents - had been interviewed: Semi-structured interviews who, within virtual or real-space contexts, needed to establish at least one of their sexual-emotional or only-sex or emotion relations. Thematic analysis of the participants' narratives revealed that these meanings and interpretations included reducing extramarital relationships to sexual intercourse, trivializing extramarital relationships, generalizing extramarital relationships, discrediting marital fidelity, and Extramarital Relationships as Tacit Agreements. In this way, throughout this process, those studied participated in the re-conceptualizing of an extra-marital relationship as a non-moral issue and became involved in one. These findings show that through the redefinition, the participants did not try to eliminate the unfaithfulness label linked with their cheating behavior but tried to justify the involvement in these relationships as a strategy.
