Abstract:

HYBRID HYDROGELS BASED ON NATURAL POLYMERS, ESPECIALLY POLYSACCHARIDES, HAS RECEIVED SPECIAL ATTENTION OF MANY SCIENTISTS AND RESEARCHERS IN RECENT YEARS. IN THE PRESENT STUDY, THE BIOMASS OF CANE BAGASSE AS A SOURCE OF POLYSACCHARIDES IS IMMERSED BY POLYMER LATEX BASED ON ACRYLIC ACID (AA), SODIUM ACRYLATE (SA) AND ACRYLAMIDE (AM) MONOMERS (PRODUCED BY INVERSE EMULSION POLYMERIZATION). THEN, BY USING HEAT BETWEEN SYNTHETIC AND NATURAL PARTS, A CHEMICAL REACTION TOOK PLACE AND BAGASSE CONVERTED INTO A HYDROGEL. THE EFFECT OF LATEX TYPE ON MODIFICATION OF CANE BAGASSE TO ABSORBING POLYMER WAS INVESTIGATED. THE BEST MODIFICATION OF CANE BAGASSE TO ABSORBING HYDROGEL WAS OBTAINED WITH POLY (AA-SA-AM) (MOL RATIO 54:6:40). THE MODIFIED CANE BAGASSE WITH THIS LATEX HAVE WATER ABSORBENCY UP TO 81.7 G/G WHILE WATER ABSORBENCY OF UNMODIFIED CANE BAGASSE IS ONLY 0.27 G/G. CANE BAGASSE HYDROGELS WERE CHARACTERIZED THROUGH SWELLING MEASUREMENT. THE PRODUCTION OF THESE HYDROGELS IS CONSIDERED TO BE AS AN INTRODUCTORY STEP IN THE EASIER AND MORE COST EFFECTIVE PRODUCTION OF HYBRID ABSORBING HYDROGELS BASED ON DIRECT USE OF BIOMASS ESPECIALLY FOR USE IN AGRICULTURAL APPLICATIONS.

Abstract:

Background and objectives: Increase in global warming and environmental issues, public opinion pressure, especially in urban areas near cane fields, the necessity of replacing green harvesting sugarcane (Saccharum Officinarum) instead of burning up is increasing. To set on fire cane fields also due to lose about 20 T ha-1 herbaceous (Trash blanket) remains can change to organic matter and help to soil fertility and sustainable production of sugarcane in Khuzestan. Materials and methods: To evaluation quantity and quality indices at harvesting time in green harvesting method and comparison with burnt harvesting losses a test performed in 2015-2016 growing season at Imam Khomeini Agro Industry Company. The experiment design was a split plot based on complete randomized block with four replications. Three sugarcane cultivars were as main plots and five harvesting methods and ratooning after harvesting were as sub plots considered. Infield losses such as complete cane, chopper cane, unravel cane, uncut cane, total losses, pol percent and cane yield was studied in test units. A SAS (v 9. 2) software was used for accounts statistical and LSD test for means comparison. Results and Discussion: The results showed that cultivars had significant effect on all of measured characteristics. The highest and lowest unravel cane loses was observed in cultivar of CP73-21 (2. 65 T ha-1) and CP48-103 (1. 23Tha-1), respectively. Maximum total of losses belong CP73-21 cultivar (12. 14Tha-1) and minimum (4. 46Tha-1) belong CP48 cultivar. Because of difference between sugarcane cultivars in terms of cane length, leaf numbers, maturation stage period and tolerance to logging, these characteristics have important role in field losses. The highest unravel cane losses belong whole of green harvesting methods (without significant different between themselves) with nearly (2Tha-1) and the lowest unravel cane was observed burnt harvesting (1. 35Tha-1). Green harvesting methods had more losses than burnt harvesting method. Because leaves and top are green at harvesting time in green harvesting method so losses amount in green harvesting method is higher than burnt method. The highest pol percent belong pre and middle mature cultivar. Method harvesting had not significant different on pol percent. The highest cane yield was observed in CP69-1062 cultivar (92. 87Tha-1) and the lowest cane yield was observed in CP73-21 cultivar (65. 4Tha-1). Average yield of burnt harvesting was 83. 19Tha-1 and average yield of total green harvesting methods was 73. 68T ha-1. Generally, yield of green harvesting methods had yield about 11% lower than burnt harvesting methods. Conclusion: Because researches about green harvesting sugarcane start lately in Iran and because infield losses is higher in early maturity cultivar than other cultivars and need to technical changes about sugarcane harvesters for field losses decrease, current green cane harvesting must be start with middle maturity and late maturity cultivars.

Abstract:

In addition to its natural and initial functions, walking stick or cane, as an important cultural and mythical symbol, has a great presence in myths and religions. Once upon a time, it was used as a simple tool in routine tasks; but gradually it acquired new functions in the life of people. In subsequent periods and in close relation with the intellectual development of man, it emerged in symbolic form. Symbolic functions of cane have been changed in different mythical and religious periods. Sometimes due to these changes, its connection with its roots is cut away and appears in a different form. On the other hand, along with technological advances, the functions of cane are assigned to more advanced instruments such as spear, bow, sword and modern weapons. In the present article the attempt is made to explain the role of cane and its various functions in myths and epics in conjunction with the gods, kings and heroes. Also, its presence in different religions and its symbolic roles as well as gradual change of these roles are considered.

Abstract:

Application of agricultural residue biochars as an adsorbent is one of the most cost-effective and widely used methods to remove contaminants such as phosphate from water resources. In fact, the bagasse is the waste residues of sugar cane which is abundant in southern parts of Iran. The aim of this study was to investigate the kinetics of phosphate adsorption by bagasse biochar and determine the best kinetic model to interpret this phenomenon. After determining optimal pH, the effects of initial phosphate concentration and contact time on phosphate adsorption by sugarcane bagasse biochar were investigated and 7 kinetic models were used to study the patterns of P adsorption. Maximum adsorption obtained at the time of two hours. Kinetic models of the exponential function, parabolic diffusion, Elovich and first order reaction were compatible with the results but the exponential function model was the best. The half-life of phosphate adsorption in different concentrations varied from 30 minutes to 100 minutes and decreased with increasing initial P concentration. P adsorption rate constants increased as initial concentration of phosphate increased. High values of P adsorption parameters demonstrated that the sugar cane bagasse biochar could be used as an appropriate adsorbent for phosphate removal from aqueous solutions.

Abstract:

One of Main Matters Treated by all countries daily is energy Supply. On one hand, decrease of fossil reservoir and increase of oil price and its products and on the other hand necessity of attention to decreasing environmental Pollutions caused by fossil fuels encourages worldwide companies to apply pure and renewable energies of renewable reservoir attracted European and American countries attention is biofuels.one of main kind of biofuels is bioethanol produced by waste of agricultural products like sugar cane, wheat, corn and sugar beet.In existing research, after introducing biofuels especially bioethanol, we have investigated bioethanol production economically by applying sugar cane wastes, ”Haft tapeh Khuzestan culture and industry“ which is one of the main sugar Producers in the state. Our hypothesis in this research this is:bioethanol production by applying sugar cane wastes, In ”Haft tapeh Khuzestan culture and industry“ have economic justification.Replacing bioethanol with MTBE in gasoline production have economic benefits. Software applied in this research is COMFAR Software which is one of the most important Software used by investment-counseling companies for Study Feasibility.

Abstract:

Background & aim: Dextran is a polysaccharide consisting of glucose monomers that are widely used in medicine as a blood volume extender. The aim of this study was to produce dextran from cane molasses using Leuconostoc mesenteroides bacteria. Methods: In this experimental study, for bacterial growth and dextran production, sugarcane molasses was added to the culture medium at different concentrations. Dextran sedimentation was obtained by shaking and centrifugation by adding ethanol after 48 hours. Response surface design was used for qualitative identification of the polarization of dextran and statistical analysis methods. Results: After assessing the separation and interactive effects of the parameters on the optimum amount of dextran produced from sugarcane molasses as 50 g, 35oC and 5/8=pH, the Dextran produced was more than 82 g/l. The correlation of the computational model for the dextran produced was 99.5%, which indicated excellent agreement with the experimental and computational models of high accuracy. Conclusion: Dextran produced by Leuconostoc mesenteroides bacteria and sugarcane molasses as substrate, is a cheap and affordable compared to current methods of dextran production. In addition to producing a clinical product, the molasses pollution could be dramatically decreased.

Abstract:

Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) may occur in any water related industries. Such kind of corrosion is induced by many groups of microorganisms and may result of in deterioration, pitting and biofouling in pipelines, pumps and other equipments in industries. Despite its importance, MIC is not studied in Iranian sugar industries. In this study, Karun cane sugar factory was examined in case of MIC. Tests consisted of field examinations of corrosion sites, evaluations of samples collection (with sterile vessels) and inoculation in culture media. In the first series of tests, SRB, nitrogen bacteria, sulfur bacteria, fungi and total bacterial count (in mesophilic, termophilic and sacrophilic temperatures) in aerobic and anaerobic conditions were examined on samples. The results revealed absence of SRB, nitrogen and sulfur bacteria share of sachrophilic and anaerobic bacteria as well as abundance of bacillus, cocciandfungiin samples. In the second series of tests, TBC tests, total fungi count, and APB (Acid Producing Bacteria) counts were done. The results revealed the presence of APB in the whole system and abundant and accumulate in some critical points. Furthermore, the results suggest that they are these three tests, as well as can indicate biocorrosion agent floura in system. In second stage, tests were conducted in bench and field scale with biocides for this purpose, selection and dosing of biocide were done with APB and TBC tests in laboratory and finally in field (production line).
