Abstract:

One of the most important applications of Gödel's completeness theorems is based on their roles the arguments of impossibility of formalization of human mathematical mind in capture of an algorithm or a finite formal system. Two main arguments have been proposed in this way of reasoning. In both of these arguments, it has been claimed that: the fact according to which human being can understand the truth of the unprovable Godelian sentence, shows the superiority of human being’s ability in mathematical reasoning to all machines’. But there are some important debates on both arguments. After explaining these two arguments, we will investigate the extensive contentions and challenges between mechanists and anti-mechanists. By explaining and analyzing Godel's incompleteness theorems and their connection to human arithmetical knowledge, we will show that there is no plausible argument, based on Gödel's incompleteness theorems, which can show the superiority of human being’s ability in mathematical reasoning to the machines’.

Abstract:

'Resaleh Ghoshairieyyeh' is one of the most important resources in the Islamic mysticism which was written by 'Abolghasem Ghoshairie' during the fifth century of Hijra. This book was translated into Farsi by one of his students - 'Abou Ali Osmani' and edited by 'B. Forouzanfar'. It has been rare to translate manuscripts word-by-word as the tendency has been towards the free translation. Although 'Osmani' apparently has tried to be faithful to the text, his translation contains some errors. Some of the errors are corrected by 'Forouzanfar' but there are still many more cases of mistranslation. In this paper, we have studied four chapters: 'Tobeh', 'Vani', 'Zohd', and 'Khalvat', and have suggested more corrections and comments to the translation.

Abstract:

Quantum Mechanics is the revolutionary theory that changes the structure of human thinking. From Einstein up to now, however, with its enormous successes in the world, there are many scientists that opposed it and denyed it as a complete theory. One of the ways to question the completeness of this theory is to use Gö del’ s incompleteness theorems. Kurt Gö del, in his Ph. D. studied and just after working on the Hilbert’ s completeness and consistency program in the formal systems, proved two important theorems which are known as the Gö del’ s incompleteness theorems. These theorems deny Hilbert’ s programs and the completeness of the formal system. Generalizing these theorems to the quantum theory is an over decades challenge in the foundations of physics. In this Paper, we explain the problem and we will discuss and critrize the possible usage of the Gö del’ s incompleteness theorems on the quantum mechanics.

Abstract:

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between existential concerns, incompleteness, and insight with dimensions of obsessive-compulsive disorder in female students. In this correlational research, the cluster sampling was employed to select 460 undergraduate female students of Guilan University in the academic year 2023-2024. The data was collected by Padua Inventory (1988), the Existential Concerns Questionnaire, Brown Incompleteness Scale, and Beck Cognitive Insight Scale, then analyzed by focal correlation analysis. Results revealed that there is a significant focal correlation between existential concerns, incompleteness, and insight with dimensions of obsessive-compulsive disorder in female students, and the correlation coefficient was 0.63 (p < 0.001). Also, 39% of changes in obsessive-compulsive disorder dimensions is predictable. The existential concerns (-0.64) and incompleteness (-0.53) had the highest focal weight, respectively. According to research results, existential concerns, incompleteness, and insight affect the obsessive-compulsive disorder dimensions in students and thereby increase its symptoms and manifestations. Existential concerns and incompleteness have the greatest effect on dimensions of students’ obsessive-compulsive disorder, so their effect on students’ psychological vulnerability can be prevented by necessary training and prevention.

Abstract:

Introduction: The full and timely documentation of medical records plays an important role in the improvement of medical, legal, educational, treatment and research processes. Incomplete record keeping is indicative of defective care and treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of implementation of the instructions on filling the patients' records by physicians on the incompleteness of medical records of Ziaeian Hospital, Tehran, Iran. Methods: This descriptive applied study was carried out at Ziaeian Hospital in 2016. The study population included 2413 medical files filled out in August and December. The sample included 324 incomplete medical files from August (before the implementation) and 288 incomplete medical records in December (after implementation). The medical record checklist was used to collect data. SPSS and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests were employed for data analysis. Results: The mean number of defects was 12.4 and 9.9 before and 9.9 after the intervention, respectively. Number of defects in the admission document (P = 0.012), counseling request (P = 0.048), surgery report (P = 0.001), case summary (P = 0.001) and anesthesia (P = 0.012) showed a significant reduction in the number of defects and the effectiveness of the intervention. However, in total medical record documentation, the intervention was not effective (P = 0.238).Conclusion: It appears that reducing the defects in medical records of Ziaeian Hospital has not been significant which can affect the treatment of patients, the quality of transmission of information and also use of medical records by legal authorities. The results of this research can be useful for hospital directors and managers for a more optimal planning approach.

Abstract:

One of the epistemological debates on Cyberethics is the ethical implications of indeterminacy in cyberspace which results from its inherent zero-infinity binary logic. Since this logic is both of linguistic and mathematical nature, we contend that it can be discursively problematized. The central question here is: how can cyberethics be talked about in light of the fact that the zero-one binary in the cyberspace is regenerated endlessly and infinitely despite our invariant situation? The second question to be touch upon is: How can the problem of indeterminacy in the cyberspace leads to a crisis in our real -world cognitive schemas? Given that the indeterminacy in the cyberspace originates from a syntactic shift in its verification-falsification logic, we argue that this logic can be problematized by Gödel's Incompleteness Theorem together with Cantor’s continuum hypothesis. To this end, the present paper situates itself within the axiomatic apparatus of these two scholars to rethink the cyberethics. It is an exploratory qualitative research, based on deductive approach, seeking to unearth an underresearched problem based on existing hypotheses. Methodologically, it is subsumed under library research for its drawing on books and theories that are directly relevant to the research problem at hand.
