Abstract:

BY INSPECTING THE OFFSHORE STATIONS OF ONE OF THE BIGGEST OIL FIELDS IN PERSIAN GULF THAT HAS BEEN DAMAGED BY MISSILE ATTACKS DURING THE IMPOSED WAR, IT BECOMES CLEAR THAT THE ASSESSMENT OF THE DAMAGE CAN BE SEEN FROM THESE TWO PERSPECTIVES: 1) DEMOLITION CAUSED BY MISSILE ATTACKS, AND B) DEMOLITION AND CORROSION CAUSED BY ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS. AT THE END OF THE INSPECTION OPERATIONS, AFTER SUMMARIZING THE RESULTS OF VISUAL INSPECTIONS AND NON-DESTRUCTIVE EXPERIMENTS (MAGNETIC PARTICLES, PENETRANT LIQUID, ULTRA-SONIC AND SOLIDITY MEASUREMENT), IT BECAME EVIDENT THAT THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE LACK OF INTEGRAL MAINTENANCE WAS FAR MORE EXTENSIVE THAN THOSE CAUSED BY THE EXPLOSIONS OF THE MISSILE ATTACKS IN THE EXPLOSION CENTER REGIONS. IN THIS ARTICLE, THE ATTEMPT WAS ON SUMMARIZING AND COMPARING THE RESULTS OF THE INSPECTIONS, SO THAT THE ROLE OF THE DIFFERENT ADVANCED INSPECTION TECHNIQUES CAN BECOME CLEARER IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH THE PRECAUTIONARY MAINTENANCE AND RENOVATION SYSTEMS AND THE EXISTING ACCEPTED TECHNIQUES BE PRESENTED FOR MARINE CONSTRUCTIONS. FINALLY, THE POLICIES AND CURRENT TRANSFORMED THEORIES OF INSPECTION ARE POINTED OUT, AND THE NEED FOR ESTABLISHING APPROPRIATE QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEMS IS ELABORATED ON.

Abstract:

Blades play a vital role in the performance of wind turbine systems. However, they are prone to damage from complex and irregular loading, which can lead to catastrophic degradation and costly maintenance. Defects or damage to wind turbine blades (WTBs) not only reduce the lifetime and efficiency of wind turbine electricity generation but also increase monitoring errors, safety hazards, and maintenance costs. Therefore, damage detection for WTBs is of high importance for preventing failures, planning maintenance, and ensuring the operational stability of wind turbines. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of advanced damage detection techniques for WTBs, including many updated methods based on strain measurement, acoustic emission, ultrasound, thermography, and machine vision. With the development of machine vision approaches and image processing technology, machine vision-based detection has become a promising and primary technique for detecting surface damage and measuring the deformation of WTBs [28] due to its low cost, ease of operation, and no need for prior knowledge about damage locations. In this review article, common damages to WTBs are introduced comprehensively at first. In the second stage, the principles of detection, development methods, advantages, and disadvantages of the aforementioned techniques for blade inspection are examined. The trend in damage detection in wind turbines is moving towards methods that offer full capabilities, long-range, contactless, non-destructive, wireless, and online monitoring. Timely detection of blade damage and continuous assessment of the structural health of wind turbines are increasingly important. This review article proposes a new idea for the design and integration of energy harvesters and WTB damage detection methods, in which the devices are automatic and wireless. Finally, potential research directions, and WTB damage detection techniques through comparative analysis, are reviewed and concluded. This review is expected to provide guidelines for practical WTB inspections as well as research perspectives for damage detection techniques.

Abstract:

IN TODAY’S WORLD, OPTIMIZATION OF ENERGY, RESOURCES AND COST ARE CONCERNED IN INDUSTRY. OPERATIONAL COSTS, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS, RISKS AND CONSEQUENCES CAUSED BY DEVICES DESTRUCTION IMPOSE HUGE COSTS TO COMPANIES. DEVELOPMENT OF MANAGEMENT THEORY, WHICH IS BASED ON RISK COMPONENTS IN GAS AND OIL INDUSTRIES, HAS PROVIDED REQUIRED PLATFORM TO PROMOTE AND DEVELOP NEW STRATEGIES FOR EQUIPMENTS INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE. RBI IS THE NEW RISK-BASED APPROACH FOR INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENTS PRIORITIZATION, WHICH LEADS TO RISK MANAGEMENT, INCREASED SAFETY, PRODUCTION CONTINUITY AND INSPECTION COSTS REDUCTION. IN THIS APPROACH, RISK IS CLASSIFIED BASED ON TWO INDEPENDENT FACTOR OF OCCURRENCE PROBABILITY AND OCCURRENCE CONSEQUENCE. RISK-BASED INSPECTION CAN BE IMPLEMENTED IN QUALITATIVE, QUANTITATIVE AND SEMI-QUANTITATIVE METHODS. IN AN OPERATIONAL UNIT, A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF RISK IS RELATED TO SMALL NUMBER OF DEVICES, THUS RESOURCES CAN BE FOCUSED ON EQUIPMENT’S WITH HIGHER RISK USING A PROPER PLANNING. IN THIS REGARD, A SOFTWARE WAS DESIGNED BASED ON API581 STANDARD AND RISK MATRIX OF GAS PRESSURE REDUCTION STATION WAS OBTAINED BASED ON QUALITATIVE RISK-BASED INSPECTION FOR INSPECTION INTERVALS PRIORITIZATION.

Abstract:

Police forces are responsible for inspecting houses as executive officers of the justice system. Sometimes ambiguities in rules and regulations and sometimes incompetent officers can lead to deviances from justice. Besides, ambiguities in rules and regulations can result in the officer’s hesitation in performing their missions. This study attempts to examine the relevant rules analytically and critically to detect possible weak points and introduce certain approaches efficient in erradicating them.

Abstract:

Objective: In this paper, we introduce a new model in the interesting domain of deteriorating item inventory control models. In our model, we consider inspection and inspection errors in which literature models are noticeably rare. Methods: We conduct a vast literature study resulting in a proper understanding of literature shortcomings, and develop a new model via operational research model building methods. To solve and analyze the model we implement analytical continuous methods. The MATLAB (R2016b) software tools are used for sensitivity analysis and further study. Results: The assumptions of inspection and inspection errors in deteriorating item inventory control models lead to a more realistic model. Also, numerical results show the importance and effect of such assumptions. Conclusion: We provide a number of profit increasing managerial insights based on values of order quantity, inspection time, replenishment period, etc., via the solution and sensitivity analysis of the new model.

Abstract:

The suspension system of a vehicle is one of the most important parts which is involved in the process of vehicle designing. When a vehicle suspension system is designed, the evaluation of its performance against the road disturbances such as shocks and bumps are very important. The most commonly used systems consist of four hydraulic Jacks with mobility in vertical line with low speed and low exactitude. This paper offers a new mechanism for inspecting the suspension system of a vehicle using a parallel robot called Stewart. This robot is a special kind of parallel robots with capability of movements in different directions with high speed, accuracy and repeatability. In this paper the suspension system is evaluated on a quarter model of a simulated vehicle with control and guidance of Stewart robot using PID controller. The Stewart robot simulates the isolated and uneven bumps on a flat road in order to evaluate the given suspension system, and to investigate some criteria such as comforting of the passengers and remaining of the vehicle on the road. The results of the simulations show that the proposed method has a high accuracy, applicability and flexibility as well as simplicity, compared to currently used mechanisms.

Abstract:

Today, the use of automated optical inspection systems in the production of printed circuit boards to control solders, the presence of the right elements and their direction has become an essential tool for electronic companies. The printed circuit board in this system is irradiated by several light sources and one or more high-definition cameras are used for imaging. Automated optical inspection system, using the recorded image and comparing the image information with the machine information, detects and specifies any type of error (defect) or suspicious areas. In this paper, using a camera mounted on a conveyor, we try to cover most of the common errors that occur on printed circuit boards at any stage of the production line. The traveling salesman algorithm is used to control the movement of the camera on the conveyor. To introduce the printed circuit board to the system, a software has been designed that uses a CAD file to obtain the location and type of elements on the board. By selecting the optimal camera movement path, it detects errors due to the absence of elements, direction of elements, lack of soldering, cold soldering, excessive soldering, etc. in three stages of feature extraction, feature selection and decision making. The results show that the device is efficient in detecting glue error before installing the elements and detecting errors after tin bath.
