New Page 1 Introduction: Hot flashes can be prominent problem in menopausal women. The treatment of hot flashes is hormonal thrapies but in some patients that are unable to use estrogen other treating hot flashes are required. Based on anecdotal information reqarding the efficacy of fluoxtin for treating hot flashes , the present trial was developed . Methods: This trial used a double Blinded randomized to study the effecacy of fluoxetin (20mg/day) and comparing with placebo in treating hot flash in 4 week treatment. Results: 310 women began protocol thrapy. in two group: A (flouxetine) and B-( placebo ) By the end of protocol hot flashes frequeney decreased 77.5 % with floxetin versus 13.7 % whith placebo( p=.0001)The flouxetin was well tolerated . Conclusion: Flouxetin resulted well improvent in hot flashes.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND: THE IMPORTANCE REVIEW OF WOMEN IN DURING MENOPAUSE ARE DUE TO THE ONSET OF SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS, WHICH FLUSHING IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON AND THE MOST PRECOCIOUS OF THEM. THOSE FOR TREATMENT OF DRUG SUCH AS HORMONE THERAPY AND NON-DRUG METHODS HAVE BEEN PROPOSED. IN THIS STUDY DUE TO THE TENDENCY OF MOST PEOPLE TO NON-DRUG METHODS, WE EVALUATED THE EFFECT OF ACUPRESSURE ON HOT FLASHES...

Abstract:

Background and Objective: The importance of menopause is due to the onset of menopausal symptoms and complications. Hot Flushes are one of the most common and earliest of them, for which treatments such as hormone therapy and non-pharmaceutical methods have been proposed. In this study due to the tendency of most patients in choosing non-pharmaceutical methods, we evaluated the effect of acupressure on hot flushes.Materials and Methods: This clinical trial was randomly conducted on 90 subjects (30 in KI-1, 30 in LI-4, and 30 in HT-7 groups) selected through purposive sampling in Shahid Motahari clinic, Shiraz in 2014.Acupressure was applied on KI-1, LI-4, and HT-7 acupoints by rotational method twice a week each time for 5 minutes for 5 weeks. The position of the KI-1 acupoint is located on the sole of the foot, at the junction of the anterior 1/3 and posterior 2/3 of the line connecting the bases of the second and third toes with the heel. The HT-7 acupoint is located at the wrist crease (on the radial side of the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon) between the ulna and the pisiform bones. Afterwards, the data were entered into the SPSS statistical software (v.16) and analyzed using ANOVA.Results: The results showed a significant difference in the intensity of hot flashes in LI-4 and KI-1 groups (P<0.001), but no significant change was observed in the control group (P=0.233). Moreover, no significant difference was observed within the three groups regarding the duration of hot flashes (P>0.05). Nonetheless, a significant difference was found between the intervention groups and the control group with respect to the frequency of hot flashes (P<0.001).Conclusion: Our results show that acupressure is significantly effective in treating hot flashes. Therefore, acupressure can be recommended as an inexpensive and easily applicable treatment method.

BACKGROUND: OSTEOPOROSIS IS ONE OF THE MAJOR PROBLEMS OF THE HEALTH SYSTEMS AND IS ALSO THE MOST PREVALENT DEBILITATING METABOLIC DISORDER AMONG WOMEN. TREATING RISK FACTORS TO PREVENT OSTEOPOROSIS NECESSITATES INCREASING THE KNOWLEDGE AND CHANGING BEHAVIOR PERTAINING TO PREVENTION STRATEGIES AND HEALTH PROMOTION. PENDER'S HEALTH PROMOTION MODEL AS A CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR DESCRIBING THE WIDEBANDSPECTRUM OF HEALTH BEHAVIORS, IS SELECTED TO ASSESS THE CHANGES IN BEHAVIOR IN THIS STUDY...

Abstract:

Background: Menopause is one of the steps in women’s life which accompany with a lot of problems Which the most common of is osteoporosis. This study was designed to assess the comparative effects on osteoporosis of tibolone in postmenopausal healthy women. Tibolone is a synthetic steroid with estrogenic, progestogenic and androgenic properties. Methods: Eighty seven women aged 45-64 years were randomly assigned to two groups: 49 women received 2/5 mg tibolone plus Calcium-D daily and 38 other received only Calcium-D daily. At baseline and 6 months of treatment we measured bone turn-over marker (serum ALP and urinary Ca/Cr ratio). Bone mineral density was measured in the spine and neck of femur by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) at baseline and 9 months of treatment.Findings: Serum ALP decreased and urinary Ca/Cr ratio also increased significantly in those taking tibolone. Also, T-score, Z-score and BMD increased significantly in the spine and femur in those taking tibolone. No significant change in the T-score, Z-score and BMD of the either spine or the femur was observed in the control group. Also, there was no significant change in serum ALP and urinary Ca/Cr ratio in them. A significant difference in the increase of T-score, Z-score and BMD of the spine and femur between the different treatment groups was observed in favor of those taking tibolone compared to women who received only Calcium-D. Also, there was a significant difference in the increase of urinary Ca/Cr ratio and decrease in serum ALP in tibolone group to Calcium-D one. Conclusion: Tibolone has beneficial effects on bone mineral density and bone turnover markers.
