Abstract:

Rupert Goold's adaptation of Macbeth (2010) is relatable to some of the dilemmas of the contemporary human beings. In this comparative study, the relationship between the concept of power, images and staging, such as closed and dark spaces, costumes, and scene designs are examined. The present paper draws on Linda Hutcheon’s theory of adaptation and the analysis of the cultural, social and historical context to explain the significance of the film's scene design and spaces. It examines the ways in which new methods are employed to present socio-historical elements in the context of the primary source of the adaptation using Robert Stam’s intertextual dialogism model which helps us to find the relation between images and concepts presented in the film. Goold has attempted to reflect the contemporary situation by using new visual techniques. The paper concludes that similar instances of the exercise of power still exist in the contemporary times. Goold's adaptation is an attempt to make the silenced voices of today’s victims of surveillance and control heard.

Abstract:

There is always a problem for authors and that is to what extent they should be faithful to the adapted source or to what extent they can change it. This research examines the subject of adaptation and with the aim of investigating and discovering the similarities and differences of adaptation in the two films “The Tragedy of Macbeth” and “ Throne of Blood”, it tries to distinguish the use of different methods of adaptation. It also sums up the types of adaptation methods that have been researched so far. The purpose of the current research is to identify the differences and similarities between two film adaptations of a literary work, each of which has been adapted in a different way. To achieve this goal, which is practical and has been conducted with a descriptive-analytical method. According to the research method, this study will seek to find the answer to the main question, what are the differences and similarities of the adaptation in the two films “The Tragedy of Macbeth” and “ Throne of Blood”? And furthermore, what are the types of adaptation in the form of cinema? Finally, by examining the similarities and differences between the two cinematographic works and the original source from which they were adapted, the methods of adaptation used in these two works will be determined. After examining the theoretical foundations and the findings of the research, it is clear that the movie “The Tragedy of Macbeth” was very faithful to the play Macbeth, in that it intended to fully perform the play in the form of cinema; While the film “Throne of Blood” reached a completely different effect from the original source by using different methods in the adaptation process. A work that can even be considered as emerging from Japanese culture, but in the theme and narration, it can be recognized as Shakespeare’s play.

Abstract:

< p>Justin Kurzel’ s film, Macbeth (2015) demonstrates a large number of Christian symbols and images. This comparative study seeks the relation between the Protestantism discourse of the Elizabethan era, and the religious visualizations and images used in Kurzel’ s movie including the Cross, paintings, costumes and mise-en-scene. By applying Linda Hutcheon’ s theory of adaptation to exploring the film, the meaning of these images can be found through contextualization. How Kurzel creates a new way to visualize the main socio-historical ideas of the original text will be examined. Stam’ s model of intertextual dialogism helps a better understanding of how these images relate to the original setting. While Kurzel features an authentic medieval Scottish setting, he employs new visual ways to convey the socio-cultura context of the Shakespearean Macbeth. Concerning Macbeth (2015), it could be argued that there are still similar examples of the justification of violence and war in our contemporary era. By voicing the marginalized Macbeths, Justin Kurzel relates to similar unjust conditions in the contemporary time and place.

Abstract:

Investors generally make decisions based on risk and stock returns, and their decisions are influenced by two factors, namely macroeconomic variables and microeconomic variables. The behavioral factors affecting investment decisions are investigated in the area of behavioral finance. In other words, behavioral finance focuses on specific human behavior attributes and their utilization in asset pricing. Behavioral asset pricing is the result of applying behavioral finance theories within traditional asset pricing theories. Although there are many asset-pricing models, due to their weaknesses and incompleteness as well as the necessity of investigating behavioral factors, this study attempted to model asset pricing using behavioral models. The population of the study included all listed firms in Tehran Stock Exchange over the years 2008 to 2018, and the sample was selected through systematic elimination of the population. Given these conditions, 141 firms were selected as the sample. The hypotheses were then tested by designing multivariate regression models. The results showed that using Fama-Macbeth approach, accounting information risk, investors’ trading behavior, and investors' sentiments had a significant and direct impact on firms’ stock returns. Thus, it is argued that behavioral variables can play a significant role in Modeling Asset Pricing.

Abstract:

This comparative study examines the relationship between the dominant discourses of the filmic adaptation of Shakespeare’, s Macbeth in the 21 st century. In Scotland, PA )2001) directed by Billy Morrissette, the effect of the dominant discourses of 1970s are examined to demonstrate the ways in which the powerful economically repress the poor in the American society. A close analysis of the social, historical and cultural contexts in this adaptation shows the ways in which cinematic adaptations of literary works are influenced by their social and cultural contexts. In other words, Morrissette has created a new work of art by recreating the seventeenth century Shakespearean play within the context of modern time discourses. The theoretical framework of this study is based on Linda Hutcheon’, s theory of adaptation and Robert Stam’, s model of intertextual dialogism. The paper shows how in today’, s world, power-seeking, discrimination and inequality persist and how the powerful draw on new and more complicated practices to continue their exploitation of the downtrodden.

Abstract:

Ferdowsi and Shakespeare in their works deal with didactic teachings. Both poets mirror nature and consider human happiness depending on respect for the moral virtues, and strive to strengthen the teaching and ethos of moral points. Shakespeare has used every opportunity to express the teachings of education. In all its tragedies he has used elements of education. Shakespeare’ s human outlook towards ethical issues is clear. Some of these teachings are expressed through the plots and characters on different occasions. This paper studies the result of moral values and its educational functions. The most important doctrine of education in the Ferdowsy and Shakespeare is condemnation of avarice and ambitions. Macbeth is a Scottish captain who kills the king in order to usurp the throne. Shakespeare shows the result of greed is the destruction of soul and its good qualities. In the end, the victory is with the good in the duality of good and evil. Both deal with two commanders who rebel against kings and bring about their own fall. Both are told by supernatural forces that they are destined to rule. their difference is that Bahram is a good commander while Macbeth turns evil.

Abstract:

The settlement of human societies on the Earth's surface has consistently aimed to maximize access to natural resources, such as water resources, suitable vegetation cover, and arable land. Undoubtedly, this endeavor is based on principles now understood as the science of spatial planning. The primary objective of this research is to examine the role of environmental factors in the settlement patterns of archaeological mounds in Maragheh County using the MACBETH and SWARA models. To achieve this goal, variables including topography (slope, slope direction, elevation classes), hydrology (distance from rivers, aqueducts, and springs), lithology, soil, and land use were analyzed.According to the results, elevation classes, distance from rivers, and slope have the most significant influence on the distribution patterns of the archaeological mounds, while the distance from aqueducts plays the least role. Validation results showed that in the SWARA model, 51, 19, and 7 of Maragheh’s archaeological mounds fall into highly suitable, suitable, and other zones, respectively. In contrast, the MACBETH model places 35, 20, and 22 of these mounds in highly suitable, suitable, and other zones. Thus, it can be concluded that the SWARA model demonstrates superior performance compared to the MACBETH model for this region.
