Abstract:

The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between traditional citation indexes representing hot papers in the field of “ Clinical Medicine” and their bookmarking and readership in “ Mendeley software” . The citation counts of hot papers were extracted from Essential Science Indicators (ESI) and Web of Science (WoS). As an applied research adopting a descriptive-exploratory method, the present study used the Essential Science Indicators to retrieve hot articles published between 2014 and 2016, indexed in the category “ Medical Sciences” . Each record was then searched in Mendeley to obtain the number of readership of the paper and the academic status of the users. The results showed a significant positive correlation between Mendeley readership and citation indexes in both ESI and WoS. Moreover, the most frequently-cited articles in both databases attracted more readers in Mendeley than lowly-cited publications and both hypotheses were confirmed. Moreover, the findings revealed that Mendeley users had assigned a total number of 3847 tags to the hot papers, with the tags ranging in frequency from zero to 38 for individual articles. Compared with author keywords and Plus, about 10 percent of users’ tags were either meaningless or repetitive. The value of present study shows that “ Mendeley Sofware” with the possibility of tagging articles, can be used to create a searchable folksonomy of information and as a source of data in information retrieval studies, help professionals to manage their literatures and make their research life easier.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study in the first phase was to determine the relationships between the characteristics of the articles published by the Iranian top one percent researchers in 2020 (journal Impact Factor, and author impacts; paper, abstract, and title lengths; author affiliations, number of references, author-supplied keywords, and number of countries; access type, and funding) with the citation counts, readership counts, and altmetric attention score (AAS), which were respectively extracted from Web of Science (WoS), Mendeley and Altmetic.com. The research aim in the second phase was to demonstrate their presence in the international patents, Iranian research outputs indexed in WoS, the curriculum of their fields, profiling services, and their academic inbreeding status and collaborations patterns. The method of this applied study was descriptive in terms of purpose and scientometric in terms of approach, which was conducted based on citation analysis, altmetric and bibliometric techniques. The statistical population of the research was 12 Iranian top one percent researchers from the top one percent researchers listed on Clarivate Analytics in 2020. The findings demonstrated that the characteristics of the articles, including the number of affiliations, authors' h-index, journal impact factor, authors and references counts, and title and abstract length, have been correlated positively with their citations, AAS, and readership. In addition, articles published by authors with a higher h-index had a greater AAS and readership, and articles with longer titles had a lower AAS. However, no statistically significant correlation was found between the citation counts and the AAS with the author keywords counts, and paper lengths, also between the AAS with the countries count. The access type variable did not affect the number of citations, but non-open-access articles received higher AAS and readership than open-access articles. In addition, funded articles obtained less citations, AAS, and readership than non-funded articles. There was no relationship between academic inbreeding of Iranian top one percent researchers with their citations and AAS. However, there was a weak correlation between the average number of citations and AAS of the Iranian top one percent researchers. Eventually, these researchers did not have a high national impact based on the indicators of presence in the references of Iranian papers indexed in WoS and references/resources of the curriculum of their field. Just 1.5 percent of publications of these researchers' were cited in patents, and many of them were contributed by Omid Akhavan and Nosratullah Dabir Vaziri.

Abstract:

The subject of this research is to explore the potentials of cultural criticism in narrative fiction. Its objective is to help narrative fiction find larger readership for the purposes of cultural criticism. Cultural criticism and cultural studies have several targets. One of their targets is that they want to be a project for the productive use of narrative fiction in modern society, because modern society is no longer much interested in narrative and seemingly takes little responsibility towards it. This is a real cultural challenge in the modern society with which the researchers in narratology and cultural studies are concerned hoping to provide practical solutions for it. In this climate of cultural lag, if narrative is to find enough readership, it should have certain qualities. Some qualities of narrative fiction are: its language is symbolic, it is representational, and it takes outstanding semiotic functions. However, these generic and productive features bring about many other potentials in narrative that make it a suitable space for cultural criticism. Crystallization of cultural criticism, cultural role of the symbol, documentary illustration of the society, elucidation of subjectivity, and concept of form are among the potentials of narrative fiction that the present research is intending to examine, rendering narrative into a productive field of cultural criticism. All of these potentials add to the critical values of narrative discourse, and via the rendition of narrative fiction into a space of critical innovation, strengthen the narrative potentials in the production and criticism of culture. Therefore, the significance of this research is that it analyzes the potentials of narrative fiction in cultural criticism, and via helping it find larger readership, adds to the possibilities of cultural criticism and cultural studies.

Abstract:

Children's literature, according to some scholars, is not proper ground for the postmodern on account of the latter being too complicated for a child readership. On the other hand, there are those scholars who maintain that children are absolutely capable of appreciating the postmodern, or more specifically metafiction, and that teaching a child to think is as significant as causing him satisfaction. The second group has divided children's literature into two main categories: traditional realistic literature, and metafiction. Techniques such as making dialogues between the child, the author, and the characters, intertextuality, and parody, make metafiction more thought provoking than traditional realistic fiction. This research is an attempt to analyze children's metafiction and the ways it can provoke its non-adult readership into thinking. To do so, I have explored the similarities and differences between children's traditional realistic fiction and metafiction with reference to Persian works of metafiction such as Mr. Colorful and the Sly Cat, Pot on Head Demon, and The Same Purple Shoe all by Farhad Hasanzadeh.

Abstract:

Often readers and even critics believe that the ideology and message of poems are more important than their structures. However, it's impossible to draw a distinction between ideology and structure as the structure of a poem is the primary element that influences the readership. Nima, as the architect of the contemporary poetry relying on his own sharp and independent insights, revived the significance of the structure in Persian literature. Many enthusiastic readers and even critics of the field of cotemporary poetry have considered Nima as the poet of 'Ai Adamha'. This paper attempts to explore why Nima has been called Ai Adfamha poet. Obviously, the significance of the poem 'Ai Adamha' and similar poetic structures lies in their literary figures and expectations embedded in their novel forms than their frequent content and message. The repetition of the dominant element of Ai Adamha in the structure of the poem has, in addition to strengthening the skeleton of the poem, enhanced the syntactic integrity, musical system, coherence, and creative opening and ending of the poem. This article attempts to analyze 'Ai Adamha' from a formalistic perspective and in doing so it paves the way for the readership to delve into the less frequently uncovered senses of the contemporary poetry.

Abstract:

The Parthian Empire was a major Iranian political and cultural power in ancient times and reigned in Iran for almost 500 years. There have been many books or articles written on Parthians over the past years; however, in recent years, research on this empire has intensified. The Parthians: The Forgotten Empire by Uwe Ellerbrook, was published in 2021. In this book, Ellerbrook has investigated all aspects of the Parthian kingdom and goes beyond the political history of the Parthians to familiarize the readership with the archaeology, history, culture, religion, art, and society of the Parthians.
