Abstract:

In order to survive in the complex environment, budget programming or forecasting models have been criticized as inadequate for today’s business environment. Organizations have to use strategic planning to evaluate internal and external situation, then formulate proper strategies and implement them. The key to execute strategy is to have people in the organization understand it. Strategy map has a significant role in the strategic management due to describing strategies of organization and to help people understand strategies. Strategy map is essentially a graphical depiction of the causal model of an organization’s strategy then developing the causal model of the strategy is also important. This paper presents innovative approach to determine causal relationship and levels of strategic objectives in strategy map. For this purpose an interpretive structural modeling (ISM) based approach has been employed to strategy map. This paper also utilizes the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) methodology to understand the interrelationships among the objectives so that those driving objectives, which can affect others and those dependent objectives, which are most influenced by driving objectives are identified. It emphasizes that interrelationship among objectives isn’t only down to up, it is on both side. An actual example of a small case pipe and fittings manufacturing company provides some managerial insights into the methodology.

Abstract:

The city's regeneration is one of the strategies that lead to urban deterioration and inefficient textures towards revitalization. Using systems thinking on the subject of reinvention can lead to the identification of complex systems that are considered effective in producing and reproducing worn-out textures. In this regard, this study was to benefit from a systemic approach in identifying the the roots of the production and reproduction of historical/worn-out textures in Semnan city. The leading research is among the applied research, and in terms of information and data analysis, it uses the descriptive-analytical method. The tool for collecting information is also in documents and surveys. The statistical population of the research was 18 university professors, experts, and officials familiar with the urban fabric of Semnan, who were selected by the snowball method. In the end, using experts' opinions, 24 variables were selected as effective drivers of Semnan's production-reproduction system of worn tissue. MicMac software was used for structural-interpretive analysis of variables. The results show that the rules and regulations governing the regeneration of the studied area are the most important and effective factors. Also, the special ownership conditions governing barren, ruined, and ruined lands have caused the private sector to have no incentive to invest in this area and reproduce the existing conditions. With the continuation of the current process, the existing situation is reproduced. Breaking this round of the reproduction process requires a constructive look at the target neighborhoods from the city administration and government agencies, which can provide the basis for the presence of private sector investors in these neighborhoods

Abstract:

Introduction: The University is a key and determining factor in the progress and development of any country. One of the biggest challenges that threaten the well-being of this pillar is the detrimental phenomenon of academic misbehavior. To prevent and mitigate the impacts of this problem, which has gripped the higher education system; It is crucial to identify indicators of academic misbehavior. This research aims to conduct a comprehensive interpretive structural analysis of the indicators of academic misbehavior in Iranian higher education. Methodology: This study employs a mixed-method sequential exploratory design, with data collected in two stages (qualitative and quantitative). In the qualitative stage, information was gathered through unstructured interviews with experts and analysis of expert’s speeches and interviews. Initially, unstructured interviews were conducted with 17 targeted experts and university faculty members using purposive-snowball sampling and the "theoretical saturation" criterion. In the second step, 12 speeches and interviews with experts from various media platforms were purposefully selected and subjected to thematic analysis. In the quantitative stage, a questionnaire was developed and administered to a panel of 8 academic staff members to collect data. Interpretive structural modeling (ISM) was employed to establish the relationships between the indicators and derive their interpretive structural model. Findings: The results revealed that the priority indicators of academic misbehavior within the higher education system are as follows: Selling university degrees, bullying, scientific exploitation, negative team building, favoritism, cheating, and scientific plagiarism, and the establishment of markets for the sale of scientific products, and corrupt localizability socializability and false identification. Conclusion: In the present study, with the structural-interpretive approach, indicators of misbehavior in the Iranian higher education system were prioritized in five levels. So in the first level, the indicator “false identification” was the most effective, and in the fifth level, the three indicators “Selling university degrees”, “bullying” and “scientific exploitation” were the most effective. In general, By identifying and prioritizing these indicators, this study provides a better understanding of the issue and facilitates the adoption of appropriate measures to prevent and mitigate academic misbehavior.

Abstract:

Competition law is a newcomer to the legal system recently. A sound understanding of competition policy can provide us with sufficient bases to apply a fundamental and normative view of the issues of competition law. The difference in supervision and regulation determines how the market functions and in order to understand this difference one must understand competition policy. Competition policy may be based on governmental support for national production and industry or on a non-interventional and regulatory posture. Moreover, supervision, based on the principle of non-intervention in the market mechanism, is rooted in liberal ideas; however, regulation, whether as a rule or an exception, is based on the assertion that the market has been ineffective in attaining its goals. Therefore, the government will resort to interventions to regulate inefficiencies.  This paper aims to analyze Supervisory Authority in Implementing Competitive Policy by employing the description method. In this article the author tries to first delineate competition policy, its related requirements and imposed deviations to the market. Then, by defining the supervisory entity and clarifying its distinction from the regulatory institutions, the author considers the characteristics of an appropriate supervisory entity conducting a comparative study of this issue in Iran and the U.S.A. This form of Competition policy because of its applicable experiences which have been well described by recent scholarship is considered suitable for the native system.

Abstract:

The volatile condition of today’s market is forcing the manufacturing managers to adapt the flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) to meet the challenges imposed by international competition, ever changing customer demands, rapid delivery to market and advancement in technology.Despite various barriers to implementation and development of FMS, there are enablers which facilitate this issue. One of the most important issues in this field and also the aim of this paper is to analysis the behavior of these enablers in order to effective utilization of them in the implementation and development of FMS. Enablers identified through literature review and industrial, and academic experts' opinion. Interpretive structural modelling (ISM) is used to develop a hierarchical structure for analyzing the interactions among enablers. Interpretive ranking process (IRP) is then used to examine the dominance relationship. ISM model highlights the importance of top management commitment and Financial investment over other enablers, whereas IRP model revealed supply chain management and operational and control techniques as the most important enablers due to performance areas. This study also gives a comparative account of ISM and IRP and shows that IRP is a more powerful tool, since it goes one-step further and considers the relationship of enablers with measurable performance indicators.

Abstract:

The purpose of the current research was to investigate the obstacles to the implementation of school-based management in Iran's educational system based on the interpretive structural modeling approach. The research method was a modeling study. The statistical population of the research was specifically the academic staff members of the university, 25 of whom were purposefully selected from the desired cases. The data collection tool was a researcher-made self-interactive questionnaire. In order to measure and evaluate the validity of the questionnaire, the criterion of content validity was used. The content validity of the questionnaire was 0.96. The data analysis was done with interpretive structural modeling method. The results of the research showed that 9 factors play a role as barriers to school-oriented management. Also, the results showed that financial obstacles (the cost of school-oriented management), socio-cultural obstacles and political obstacles (political focus on schools by the central government) as key independent variables have high influence power and low dependence. Also, the results showed that the lack of belief in the professional competence of school administrators, the lack of infrastructure facilities, the emphasis of upper management on the supervision and control of schools, and the lack of cooperation of local communities with school-based management as the linking variables with the greatest power of influence and the greatest power of dependence. and the centralism in the education system of the country and the lack of legal powers to school managers and staff as dependent variables have high dependency power and low influence power.

Abstract:

As a driver of national development, the construction industry has in recent decades gained substantial environmental importance due to its extent and effects on life, business, and the environment. Due to its economic, social, and environmental impacts, the construction industry has been discussed extensively in the sustainable development literature, contributing to development of Green Building Rating Systems (GBRSs) worldwide. This study introduces some of the most popular GBRSs and employs a Multi- Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach to investigate the evaluation indices of GBRSs. GBRS indices were obtained through a comprehensive literature review. To validate the identified indices, 400 questionnaires were handed out to respondents, with 260 completed questionnaires being returned. The responses were statistically analyzed, identifying twenty important indices, which were modeled using Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) and categorized using MICMAC analysis. The ISM model showed that the barriers arising from unique characteristics of a region were the main GBRS factor in Iran.

Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to create a deep understanding of the way tasks are performed in organizational structures (except for the existing formal structure). Methodology: By using interpretive-structural modeling and using the opinions of 6 senior employees of Northern Khorasan Industrial Estates Company, the 12 active components in the activity structure of this company were deeply analyzed and hidden relationships between these components (as research variables) were identified. Findings: Based on this, it was found that the set of activities in this organization can be categorized into 4 levels according to its distance from the main mission of the organization. These levels revealed the differentiation of "dominant" interactions and effects between different organizational departments regardless of the levels defined in the formal structure of the organization. At the lowest level of the model, "Human Resources Development" and "Security" are the most effective departments of the organization. Also, in this analysis, it was found that "public relations" and "financing and market development" are considered the most effective parts of the organization. Originality/ value: The researchers' investigations showed that the use of this research method to analyze the organizational structure and hierarchy has never been done before. Recommendations: The structural scheme of an organization, regardless of what is defined as the official structure of the organization, can be influenced by various factors, including the organization's environment. With the help of this method, it is possible to achieve this true schema of the structure of an organization through deep analysis.

Abstract:

Due to environmental, social and economic challenges which threat organizations during recent decades, customer orientation and emphasis on his/her needs for competitive advantage are fading. Green SCM is appropriate approach for this issue. Green SCM integrates SCM with environmental requirements in all stages of products design, raw material supply, production and manufacture, distribution and delivery processes, and recycling management in order to maximize energy consumption productivity. So, this survey follows to study obstacles for green SCM in Pars Khodro Co. using ISM. For this, logistics section in Pars Khodro Co. was surveyed. In the first step, the obstacles were identified and then the main obstacles were selected by experts. In the next step, structure and role of obstacles were determined by ISM. Findings showed that lack of high and middle level managers’ support was ranked as the first one. Also, lack of active and volunteer role of organization and suppliers in implementation os environmental standards and social responsibilities was ranked as the last one (9th). In addition, dependent, independent, and influencing variables were identified.

Abstract:

‘Survival of the fittest’ is the reality in modern global competition. Organizations around the globe are adopting or willing to embrace just-in-time (JIT) production to reinforce the competitiveness. Even though JIT is the most powerful inventory management methodologies it is not free from barriers. Barriers derail the implementation of JIT production system. One of the most significant tasks of top management is to identify and understand the relationship between the barriers to JIT production for alleviating its bad effects. The aims of this paper are to study the barriers hampering the implementation of successful JIT production and analysing the interactions among the barriers using interpretive structural modelling technique. Twelve barriers have been identified after reviewing literature. This paper offers a roadmap for preparing an action plan to tackle the barriers in successful implementation of JIT production.
