Abstract:

Background: The aim of this study is comparison of FBS level, before and after anti tuberculosis therapy in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods and subjects: 50 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis were studied. All of them had pulmonary tuberculosis and all of them received standard anti tuberculosis regimen. FBS levels before treatment and the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 14th days after treatment were determined. We used Paired t test to compare means. Results: There was not any significant difference between mean FBS of 3rd, 5th, 7th and 14th day with before treatment FBS. In males and age group less than 30 years old the difference between FBS levels of before treatment and 7 days after treatment was significant and FBS of 7th day was lesser. Conclusion: We emphasize that anti tuberculosis regiment does not cause diabetes mellitus in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.

Abstract:

Background: The disease transmitted by blood because of the high morbidity and mortality are very important. And among them, infectious agents such as Hiv and HBV have important role. The HCV is a common cause in the hepatic disease and the most cause of the hepatitis after blood transfusion. So diagnosis of this disease is benefit either the patient and prevents the society. The aim of this study is assess the frequency if the Hepatitis C and its related factor in blood donors Materials and methods: This is a cross sectional study.1552 donor was evaluated and the data was collected by a questioner included demographic characteristics, HCV Ab test. Then analyzed by using ki2 test. Results: In 0.39% HCV test was positive and it was more common in males, high risk jobs and low educated (P<0.05). There was no relationship between age and marital status with hepatitis C. (p<0.05) Conclusion: The frequency of the hepatitis c in donor of Kerman was less than other studies that shows the better screening of the Iran blood transfusion organization

Abstract:

Background: Although, association of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and some family characteristics has been reported, less attention has been focused on the correlation between raw Conners' scores and family characteristics in general population. While higher raw Conners' score indicates more possibility of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, detection of such correlation highlights the need for screening of this disorder in some families. Aim of this study was to assess the possible correlation of raw Conners' scores and family characteristics in general population of primary school children. Materials and methods: In this cross sectional study, parent's and teacher's Conner's uestionnaire and a checklist containing family variables was administered to 1000 primary school children who were randomly selected from all primary schools in Shahrekord, in 2002. 819 subjects entered the study. Results: Raw Conners' scores were correlated with history of referral of father to psychiatrist, long absence of father from home, history of change in job of father, job of parents, educational level of parents, history of legal problems of parents, smoking of parents, drugs addiction by parents(p<0.05).There were no correlation between raw Conners' scores and history of referral of mother to psychiatrist, history of referral of siblings to psychiatrist, long absence of father from home or living together of parents (p>0.05). Conclusion: According to the results of this study, screening of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is recommended in those children whose father have history of referral to the psychiatrist, have long absence from home, with a history of change of job, or with parents with some jobs, with low educational levels, with history of legal problems, smoking or drugs addiction.

Abstract:

Background: Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressive drug used largely in organ graft medicine with serious effects on liver parenchyma. We experienced combination of cyclosporine and vitamin A for liver damage risk reduction in rats. Materials and Methods: We random allocated 40 rats in 4 study groups and inoculated 1. cyclosporine with olive oil subcutaneously; 2. intramuscular cyclosporine and vitamin A; and 3. subcutaneous absolute olive oil. The 4th rat group was not injected and it considered as normal control group. Inoculation was continued for two weeks and rats were kept in standard equal environmental condition. By the end of the injection period they all were dissected and 2 liver tissue samples were studied from each rat using H&E stain and light microscope. Tukey test was used to compare kupfer cells between study groups by considering an alpha level of 0.05 as significant. Results: Hepatocytes disarrangement, congestion and hyperemia of sinusoids, and apoptotic cell enhancement were outcomes of cyclosporine use in rats. There was also blood in kupfer cells and obscure portal space. In comparison with vitamin A addition cyclosporine group showed increasing of kupfer cells (P<0.001). Conclusion: Adding Vitamin A to cyclosporine regimen can probably results in liver damage risk  reduction.

Abstract:

Background: The main objective of this study was to determine the association of abnormal urologic symptoms and prostate specific antigen (PSA) in outpatients in urology clinic and controls. Materials & Methods: In this case control study, 240 men over 50 year of age, was studied. Cases including 120 outpatients in urology clinic at Clinical Hospital in Shahrekord and controls including 120 non patients, entered to our study. Urologic symptoms were assessed by using American Urological Association (AUA) symptom index in the patients. PSA was measured as well. Two groups were matched as age, marital status, history of cancer, but not by cigarette smoking, history of benign prostate hyper trophy and vasectomy. Results: Abnormal symptoms was seen in 61 patients (50.8%) in case group and 41 patients (34.2%) in control group (p<0.009). 21 patients (17.5%) in case group and 10 patients (8.3%) in control group had PSA>4 ng/ml (p=0.034). Conclusion: This study showed that abnormal PSA was associated with abnormal symptoms in case group, but not in control group. The results remind the benefit of Screening by PSA in normal populations, where can detect asymptomatic patients with increased PSA.

Abstract:

Background: Leishmaniasis is a disease with different clinical manifestation produced by the genus leishmania. Eradication of the disease has proven to be difficult. Chemotherapy has only a modest effect and there IS no effective and safe vaccine against any from of clinical leishmaniasis. However, individuals who recovered naturally from infection develop strong immunity against reinfection suggesting that vaccination against leishmaniasis is feasible. Materials and methods: This study is a review article and is based on more than 30 articles about prophylaxis of leishmaniasis during recent five years. Results: In 2002 year several studies in different countries about leishmania major suggesting as a whole use of LACK antigen with IL-12 adjuvant mix antigens lack and MIOGE* Mix antigens lack+Lmsti 1+TSA *Mix surface antigens lmstil+TSA+Leif=Leish 111f. *Mix leish 111f + IL-12 or Leish 111f + MPA+SLA have high efficient protective immune response but the result of study in Brazil at that time about meta 1 gene is not effective. In 2003 year several studies in different country shows the use of ODN, CPG, ALM and BCG as a adjuvant and the role of dendritic cells with IL-12 in generation of protective is very important meanwhile increase of GM-CSF * antigen recombinant Histone synthesized * Role of CD4* with CD8* the effective of NF Kappaß cells in induction of Th1 * The use of two different adjuvant ODN, GPC with alive parasite and Man 5-DPPE coated liposomes to induce cellular immunity against parasite is important also. In 2003 studies about Leishmania infantum shows that use of IL-18 with IL-12 * Lack + DNA P36 antigens* P80 antigen * Mix antigens GP63 + CP+LPG induced Type 1 response against parasite.
