Abstract: 

سیستم های کنونی مدیریت اطلاعات و ارتباطات در زمان بحران در درجه اول برای شناسایی سوابق و ردیابی افراد آسیب دیده بر ارتباطات رادیویی و کاغذی تکیه می کنند. این سیستم های سنتی در زمان بروز بحران محدودیت های قابل توجهی دارند. از میان مهمترین این محدودیت ها می توان به این نکته اشاره کرد که سیستم های مبتنی بر کاغذ یک مخزن اطلاعاتی ایستا و ثابت در یک محل را ایجاد می کنند که اجازه به اشتراک گذاری اطلاعات را در میان ارایه دهندگان خدمت، مدیران و تصمیم گیران را نمی دهند. در نتیجه در زمان بحران، عدم دسترسی مناسب به اطلاعات مورد نیاز، منجر به ارایه خدمات ضعیف و با کیفیت پایین و نامناسب می گردد.

Abstract: 

Introduction: A Minimum Data Set (MDS) is a core set of data elements agreed by the National Health Information Management Group in Australia for mandatory collection and reporting of data at a national level. It has important role in the health care industry for data exchange and implementation of electronic health records. The aim of this study was to design of perinatal MDS for Iran.Methods: This was an applied and mixed method study (qualitative - comparative and Delphi) conducted in 2013. For the first step, perinatal MDS in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, America, England and Iran were studied and compared via library sources, the Internet, correspondence with foreign authors, and available forms. The instrument of the study were data collection forms and a questionnaire that content validity of which was determined by the experts of the field. Then, the initial model for MDS of perinatal period was suggested. The questionnaire was tested by Delphi technique in two rounds. Data analyses were performed by comparing tables and determining similarities and differences in the selective countries at the stage of comparison of MDS of perinatal period. At the stage of data validation for the model, this was accomplished with descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean) and Excel software.Results: In the initial model for MDS of perinatal period, from 251 data elements and 11 sections were subjected to discussion. Finally, 105 data elements with consensus and 122 with collective agreement were confirmed. Data elements were proposed in 15 subsets.Conclusion: Present problems have faced in country such as poor documentation, lack of data elements of standard. MDS improve the quality of perinatal care and access to accurate and timely data.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Telemedicine is a new field which uses the modern telecommunication technology to exchange medical information. This correlation can be between patient and doctor for the doctor to telediagnose or between two doctors or two medical centers for tele-consultaions on the case. This project intends to create a web based telesoftware due to lack of dermatologists in many areas of the country and also the uneven geographical distribution of these specialists and their absence in rural and remote areas.This software aims at reducing the trips to dermatologists in the province based on the restore and forward technique. It is also intended to answer the question that with the implementation of this software in Kerman medical and Science University how much of the total trips to the province will be reduced.Methods: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional and applied study which was done to measure the rate of reduces provincial travelling by implementation teledermatology system. This study was done from September to December 2012. The study population was the patients who were referred to skin clinic of Kerman medical university.A total of 91 patients were enrolled into the study. Patients’ identity features, city and medical history were recorded by Questionnaire and lesions’ images were taken. Then patients were referred to a dermatologist to put his diagnosis on the disease. About two months later the same dermatologist was asked to put his diagnosis based on the patients’ recorded medical history and digital images of the lesions. Then the two diagnoses were compared and Kappa coefficient was calculated, the data was analyzed in SPSS 20 using descriptive statistics. For ensure of the Justifiability of Questionnaire, we use the comments of four expert of this field and kappa coefficient was calculated as 0.77.Results: After data analysis of 91 patients who went to one of the city’s dermatology clinics it was found that the implementation of this software lead to a 82.36 percent cut in trips to the province with the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases.Conclusion: After reaching the target the software was designed in Kerman medical University as webbased software using ASP.net and Sqlserver database and it was implemented using the Telederm.kmu.ac.ir address.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Patient rights tasks in a treatment center is responsible for the patient and informed consent, freely revocable consent of qualified person (patient) based on participation in decision making followed knowledge about the nature, purpose and consequences of belief the effect of participation in the selection of treatment is effective and useful., this study aims to investigate the extent of informed consent obtained from the patients admitted to selected hospitals in Shiraz city in 1392 was solar.Methods: The study was cross-sectional analysis that has been done. Method of data collection for the study, library, electronic resources and Internet and based Made questionnaire was developed. To determine the scientific validity of the questionnaire was used content validity for this purpose, a questionnaire among a number of scholars and experts specializing in the field of health information management and statistics distribution were enjoying their comments and guidance, the content of the questionnaire was the ambiguities were resolved to confirm its validity. To calculate the trustworthiness or reliability of Cronbach’s alpha for the questionnaire was used. Therefore the initial questionnaire before the main phase of the study, 20 patients were randomly distributed and collected data using a questionnaire to determine the level of reliability of software SPSS, assessed and evaluated. Analytics data Analysis descriptive statistics (percentage, frequency, mean and standard deviation) was performed.Results: Findings from this study indicate that the low level of knowledge about the patient’s knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of other methods of treatment, as in private hospitals is in average 38.2 SD 659.1 and the public hospital averages 65.2, SD 363.1 and The highest level related to ensures the confidence patient to their doctor, so private hospital an average of 78.4 and SD 519.0 and the public hospital an average of 42.4 and SD 037.1. Well as patient satisfaction scores by age, education level and type of hospitalized in all hospital (namazi and private hospitals) showed significant differences.Conclusion: The results represent the average state of being conscious consent obtained from patients at selected hospitals in Shiraz city. It also became clear that the process of informed consent should be based on the condition of time, location and changes must be based on education level the patient.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Medical libraries as the heart of the nation’s health care system are responsible, for appropriate and up to date information transmission into the arteries of society. So in the field of natural disaster management, such as earthquake or flood, has an important and significant role. Therefore in the face of such disasters, they can act powerfully. In this regard, this study, survived awareness of library managers and staffs with disaster management issues and 4 main stages of it in libraries.Methods: in this study, an analytical survey to investigate awareness of library managers and staffs with disaster management topics and 4 main stages of it in libraries will be discussed. The statistical population of research includes 130 librarians working in university libraries, affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Medical Education are based in Tehran. The data was collected through a researcher made questionnaire, consisting of 30 components with 5 item Likert range. Validity of questionnaire developed by the expert and reliability of questionnaire, was assessed by Cronbach’s alpha, this value was equal to 0.81 which is indicative of good reliability. To analyze the research findings, statistical inference, such as binomial test, Friedman test and Chi- squared test, were used and the SPSS version 19, were applied.Results: The manager’s familiarity with the issues of crisis management, taking into consideration the strategic planning libraries with average 7.4 in too much effort to provide resources on disaster management for libraries with an average 51.2 was assessed as low. Firstly, the library building retrofitted with an average of 78.15 in the limit of very large, distressed and location maps prepared anti-crisis average of 83.10 is assessed as low. Secondly, set the data preparation rapport with other organizations (eg, fire and police), with a mean of 87.14 at the most, dissemination of general information pertaining to emergency conditions with an average of 07.11 is estimated as low. ‘s the third step is to prepare backup copies of important files in the library with an average of 73.16 in the limit of very large room called a crisis center with an average of 47.11 is assessed as low. Finally in the fourth stage of upgrading the professional competencies needed by librarians with a mean of 67.14 high level of community volunteers in rebuilding the library with an average of 64.9 minimal by respondents assessed.Conclusion: Libraries as information centers adopt distinct functions in modern society. Awareness of library managers and staffs with disaster management issues can help library to provide better services in the face of natural disaster. In the meantime use of information technology tools such as social networking, mail services, telemedicine with medical librarians and publish online images of natural disasters through the library, the library will be stronger.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Considering to needs of physicians to updated information for researching in medical science, therefore the existence of libraries with resources in different format is an essential point. On the other side, the medical community’s understanding of these resources to achieve their main goal is undeniable, because the ultimate result of easy and urgent access to information is a warranty of public society health. This research aimed to determine physicians’ awareness and usage of electronic resources in educational hospitals.Methods: The research method was descriptive - survey and the tools of data gathering was research made questionnaire. Validity and reliability of the study tools was confirmed by librarianship experts with 95 Percent. Statistical society was including all specialist and specialty physicians of educational hospitals of Isfahan University of medical science include 350 people and a mass of sampling with 180 members.The sampling way was random clustering. The type of statistical method was descriptive and appliqued software was SPSS version 13.Results: In investigation the rate of physicians needs for information in different cases, the most needs was 91.3 Percent for researching in their activity fields and to do daily schedule with 60.6 Percent is declared as minimum requirements. Physicians removal their information needs, used information resources and electronic resources in 65.4 Percent of cases as maximum option, and they have mentioned helping and conducting of foreigner specialists as minimum with 15.5 Percent. About the awareness of physicians from types of electronic information sources, the most knowledge was about Medline with 86.5 Percent and the lowest frequency was for Blackwell with 16.3 Percent. In determining the awareness of physicians of electronic information resources, most awareness was belonging E-journal with 43.3 Percent and the lowest amount was for Offline information resources with 13.8 Percent. Also in determining the use of electronic information resources with physicians, E-journal with 36 Percent as maximum and Offline Data Bank with 12.2 Percent as less option are used. The most important factor between effective factors for usage of physician from the electronic information resources, 61.5 Percent was related to lack of time and busy working, and the lowest factor which is non beneficial resource content has only been one mentioned.Conclusion: The results represented that information needs of physicians is respectively by following reasons: conducting research, preparing articles, gathering new and updated information, management of patient care, teaching, and finally for every day routines. Because of the importance of electronic information resources for physicians, it needs to introduce all aspects of this information resources and retrieval methods from related gateways to information societies of university.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Universities of Medical Sciences Academic Libraries websites’ have an important role in interaction and offering services for users. The aim of present study was the assessment of Support and Content analysis of academic libraries websites’ of Iranian Universities of Medical science.Methods: the method of this applied study was survey– analytical. First academic library websites of Iranian Medical Universities were identified and were compared from general criteria of support and content evaluation by using three check lists with questions which validity were confirmed by experts and conducted research. During February of 2013, 43 Academic library websites of Medical Sciences libraries websites affiliated to the Ministry of Health were evaluated. In this assessment score of elements gathered for each website; finally data analyzed by Excel software.Results: Totally, in studying of Universities of Medical Sciences libraries websites an average 34.04% of the internal content item, 52.52% of external content research items and 39.88% of the support items have observed in designing web pages. Among the studied universities’ websites, one university had considered more than 50% of check lists information items in terms of designing their website. Universities of Shahed (55), Mashhad (47) and Shahid Beheshti (45) had been considered the evaluation criteria in terms of libraries websites design more than others. Also universities of Babol (17), Artesh (17), and Uromiyeh (16) had lower rankings.Conclusion: In general, the content (internal and external) and support of academic libraries websites’ of Iranian Universities of Medical Scienceswas at lower than medium level.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Many people are looking for information about anxiety disorders on the Internet. These disorders impair quality of life and increase risk of various diseases. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate the web-based information about these problems and to introduce the authentic websites for essential information. The purpose of this study was to evaluate quality of Persian anxiety disorders websites based on WebMedQual scale.Methods: This study is a survey and applied studies. In order to collect data, WebMedQual scale was used that localized by librarian, psychology and website designer experts. The population of this study consisted of 15 Persian anxiety disorders websites (anxiety and obsessive). Maximum and minimum points were 82 and 0 for each websites and Mean points was 41.5. In order to analyze the data used singlesample T-test in SPSS 20 software and findings were presented as mean and optimal score.Results: Based on WebMedQual scale the average ratings of Persian anxiety disorders websites in the content (7.40±2.18), authority of source (5.10±2.11), accessibility and availability 2.23±0.37), links (1.37±1.09), and user support (4.57±1.33) and confidentiality and privacy (3.07±2.95) indicators is poor and below average. But in design indicator (9.27±1.29) is higher than average. The best websites of Anxiety Disorders were “Iran Clinical Psychology Association” and “Ravanyar “and the worst website was “yek Frakav”.Conclusion: According to results it is essential for users to criticize website content and do not trust it without credit standards of sources.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Today, process of knowledge sharing is one of the most important strategies for the development and deployment of knowledge management in organizations. Universities and centers of higher education as the most important knowledge-based organizations can improve their academic quality by achieving this important capability, i.e. knowledge sharing. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the structural equation modeling of knowledge sharing upon academic quality improvement from the viewpoints of faculty members at Isfahan selected Universities, Iran.Methods: The research method was descriptive and co relational type. The statistical population consisted of 1472 faculty members of Isfahan selected Universities from which a sample size of 177 was chosen through stratified random sampling. In order to collect data, the 10-item knowledge sharing questionnaire and a 30-item academic quality improvement questionnaire were used. The questionnaires validity was confirmed through confirmatory factor analysis and their Cronbach alpha coefficient was estimated 0.87 and 0.95 respectively. The analysis of data with using of SPSS16 and Amos18 software were performed.Results: The findings (correlation coefficient) revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between knowledge sharing and academic quality improvement (p>0.01). Also there is positive and significant relationship between knowledge sharing (knowledge donating and knowledge collecting) and academic quality improvement components (p>0.01). The results from a structural equation modeling approach show that Knowledge sharing has a positive and significant impact on academic quality improvement. In other words, knowledge sharing predicts and explains %35 of academic quality improvement variance.Conclusion: Universities and centers of higher education can assure and advance their academic quality improvement by development and deployment of knowledge sharing culture.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Knowledge is regarded as a major resource of organizations and as an asset. Transmission, creation and applying knowledge require an organizational culture which encourages this process. Universities as knowledge-producing organizations should benefit from this. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between organizational culture and knowledge management at Kerman University of Medical Science.Methods: Present analytical study was done with cross sectional in Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2012. Statistical population consisted of all staff working at deputies of Kerman University of Medical sciences (844) of which a sample of 200 was selected using quota sampling. In order to collect data, questionnaires on organizational culture and knowledge management were used whose validity was confirmed in previous studies and their reliability was calculated. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods (Pearson correlation, ANOVA and linear regression) were used for data analysis through spss18.Results: Organizational culture was evaluated well by the majority of the studied subjects. Highest and lowest scores was obtained by adaptability (2.9) and participatory (2.6) dimensions respectively.Knowledge management status was evaluated at moderate and good level by studied subjects. Finally, there was a significant relationship between organizational culture and knowledge management (Pvalue=0.000).Conclusion: Organizational culture and knowledge management were in good condition in this study. Organization must first consider the organizational culture in order to improve the knowledge system and to spread it throughout organization effectively. The more strong the organizational culture is, the more successful the implementation of knowledge management would be.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Hospitals to meet the challenges of rising costs, forced to adopt strategies for efficient use of resources. The average length of stay is an important and functional indicator of hospitals efficiency evaluation. This study conducted to modeling the patients’ length of stay in infectious ward of Razi hospital in Ahvaz.Methods: This was an analytical cross sectional study that conducted in 2012. The population was patients that hospitalized in infectious ward of Razi hospital in Ahvaz. The sample was medical records of inpatients admitted to the infectious ward from March 2011 to august 2012 (n=1000). Data were gathered by a form. The Mann–Whitney, Kruskal wallis, Spearman correlation and log regression in SPSS16 were used for analyzing.Results: Average and median length of stay was 9.4±8.1 and 7 Days respectively. There were the significant relationship between average length of stay and the patient’s health status at discharge, type of insurance, number of visits, patient’s location, total number of tests and total number of diagnostic tests (p<0.05).The only variable for prediction of model was number of tests.Conclusion: Pay attention to necessity and appropriateness of tests, diagnostic tests and visits seems to be useful. Also designing processes to shorten the tests conducting can be effective in reducing length of stay.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Today’s organization’s environment is highly competitive environments organizations to survive and thrive and adapt to these changes must learn to rely on empowering and focus on organizational learning. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between employee empowerment and organizational learning among employees, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences.Methods: The study was analytical.100 employees of the Central University were selected by simple randomized sampling method. In order to data collection was used the Spreitzer’s empowerment questioner and Neefe’s organizational learning questioner. Informational career and demographic were added to the questionnaire. Formal validity of questionnaire was confirmed by the number of professors and its reliability by using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was calculated to be equal %90 and %86 for this two questioner. In order to analyze the data were used software SPSS 15, descriptive statistics methods (Mean, standard deviation, Frequency) and inferential statistics (Anova, T-Test, Pearson correlation and multiple linear regressions).Results: The results of this study showed that there was a significant positive relationship between organizational learning and empowerment (p<0.001, r=0.696). The results of multiple regression analysis revealed two dimensions of participation with others and sense of competency in occupational predictors of organizational learning. (p<0.05, b=0.322 =0.465) level of organizational learning and employee empowerment is Moderate.Conclusion: since the feeling of participation with others and competency to have the greatest impact on organizational learning. Therefore Managers can engage employees in decision making and provide the staff to learn and experience creativity and the development of competence, will propel the university into a learning organization.

Abstract: 

Considering the quality of care from views of patients is an important aspect in improving health services and expected value of patient. So the value chain is a strategic tool in health care organizations to create value and achieve the goal of continuous improvement in quality. In this paper we discuss the role of value chain in promoting quality of health care.This study was review which was done the first half of 2012. For searching related articles and documents, the main value chain keyword and sub keywords quality and satisfaction were used in the database. Title, abstract and full text investigated respectively, and then 43 of them selected for evaluation.Findings were classified in several parts. These findings include the concept of quality, planning achieve to value-based quality, value chain, its use in health care organizations, describing components, logic planning implementation strategies, value adding healthcare service delivery strategies and value adding support strategies.In this paper, we try to noted different aspects of the value chain, two important parts of value chain including value adding healthcare service delivery strategies and value adding support strategies. Value chain can be an important tool for managers in order to planning and improve the quality.
