Abstract:

Background: Today, the burden of landmines and explosive remnants of wars is a global concern. Affected populations’ quality of life is invariably affected by the impact of mine associated incidents which are characterized by sudden onset and long term (probably lifelong) complications.   Lack of comprehensive information, made us take on this study to evaluate the quality of life indices among landmine victims, un-injured dwellers of same areas and normal populations of same age, gender and socio economic variables who live outside mine infested territories.Method and Material: In this case control study, some quality of life indices were compared between 348 victims of landmines and other left over explosives who were included in the study by simple accidental sampling from victims’ register in each of the 5 Iranian mine infested provinces and people of same age and gender who live in some areas and those who live outside the infested areas. Data collection tools included demographic questionnaires and SF-36Results: The results of the study showed that the quality of life in all respects as evaluated by the SF-36, is significantly lower among mine.Discussion :The impacts of living in the presence of war explosive remnants is significant enough to mandate special measures like periodic health checkups, screening programmes and establishment of mental and physical rehabilitation centers for the affected populations in Iran.

background: the big wars with its plentiful victims, not only don’t human life to calmness and security but also caused hospitals facing with a great deal of applicants and every day it increased the mental disorders and abnormalities.Purpose: according to special condition of devotee’s spouses, the purpose of this research is comparing the mental health of normal person’s spouses and devotees spouses.Materials and methods: the method of research is casual-comparative. Research sample were 300 persons (150 devotee spouses and 150 normal persons spouse) and were selected by systematic random sampling to collect data by mental health questionnaire (SCL-90-R) and demographic characteristics. Results: data are analyzed by Manova the analyzing of data shown that there is a meaningful difference between mental health of devotees spouses and normal persons spouses (p<0.0001).Discussion: the war, as a serious mental pressure factor has a widespread mental, social, cultural, and personal consequences and during different generation it affect the members of society. According to these research findings, we can conclude that devotee’s spouses in comparison with normal person’s spouses have more phobia, depression, paranoid, psychotics, somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, obsessive-compulsive, anxiety, and aggression.

Purpose: Aim from this research was satisfaction of the Janbazan (veterans) from complemented insurance services. Methods and Materials: For this cause examined satisfaction of the Janbazan (veterans) from complemented insurance services and their connection with type and percentage of injury and other connection factor. For answer to these objectives were selected 400 janbaz in Tehran with stratified sampling and data were collected with questionnaire of 32 segments, that designed in this field. Also dat analyzed with descriptive statistic, on- anova, Spearman and Pearson correlation and chi- square test. Results: satisfaction of the janbazan from complemented insurance services is mean. Between satisfactions from services health that presenting to segregation of type of injury view few different that this difference isn’t significant but in satisfaction of janbazan from services health to segregation of percentage of injury, view most different.

Abstract:

Introduction: Handicapped people, who exclusively depend on manual wheelchair for locomotion, face great difficulties because they have constant pain in their upper-extremity members, mainly in the shoulder, elbow and the wrist. Manual propulsion can be considered a cyclical effort, thus the pains are symptoms of injuries from repetitive efforts.Purpose: The aim of this paper is to determine the dynamical efforts over the shoulder and elbow joints during the manual wheelchair propulsion using the Lagrange equations and the inverse dynamic techniques. Results: As a result, it is possible to establish a system of equations and thus evaluate the efforts over the joints. Another result is the possibility to simulate the system using the anthropometric values of real subjects aiming at making it easier to choose the best wheelchair.Discussion: Besides the study of the propulsion pattern, allows physical training aimed at improving the propulsion efficiency.

Abstract:

Introduction: Craniosynostosis is a genetic disease in which there is early fusion of the skull sutures. In this situation, skull will be deformed and prevents brain growth and causes mental retardation. Increasing the skull pressure and face deformation will be occurred in craniosynostosis which can be eliminated by cranioplasty surgery. Stresses on the skull depend on how the skull is cut by the surgeon and also on the location of plates on the skull.Purpose: In this paper, skull bone has been modeled in CATIA software. Then the model has been analyzed by ABAQUS software and according to the obtained results, an optimized model for cutting the skull in cranioplasty is presented. Results: Three models of skull have been designed in this paper. The first model is a simple model, designed according to sagittal and frontal slices of the skull based on a patient skull’s dimensions. Second model is designed in 3DMAX software considering anatomical details and the third model is designed according to CT slices obtained from MRIcro software.Discussion: In this paper, first model has been selected for analyzing the skull in cranioplasty. Results show that the way of cutting the skull in this surgery will cause mechanical stability.

Abstract:

Pourpose: A computer simulation was carried out to assess the following hypothesis: during the stance phase of a transfemoral amputee gait, forces of individual muscles of the transected limb are higher than those of the intact limb. Methods and Materials: With each muscle as an ideal force generator, the lower extremity was modeled as a linkage that hip and knee were its joints. Kinematic data of hip and knee joints were recorded by a motion analysis system. Results: Through an optimization approach, the forces exerted by muscles were determined so that the recorded hip and knee joint angles could be produced. Simulation results showed that the hypothesis is refuted.Discussion: Actually, the individual muscle forces of the prosthetic leg are lower than those of the intact leg. This is in line with studies that reported the hip torque of prosthetic leg is lower than that of the intact leg.

Abstract:

Introduction: Nowadays, there are many questionnaires available, validated & used worldwide. Today Most of the prosthetists are aware of the fact that prescribing & fitting the prostheses should be based on the real requirements of the amputee. Questionnaires are amongst the most important tools in qualitative research that may be filled out by the amputee, him/herself or the researcher via interview with the amputee. Results: The resultant scores may be a tool to quantify the qualitative modules about the amputee’s function & socket comfort. These questionnaires are about using the prostheses, functional aspects of use and general activities of the amputee, but none of them can provide complete information about how to provide the amputee with a prosthesis which is most adequate to his/her real requirements.Discussion: We tried to have a brief introduction to some of the most common questionnaires such as PEQ, BPI, SCS, DMERC, that are used to assess lower limb prosthetic comfort.

Abstract:

Introduction: Interlocking has been widely accepted for treatment of femoral shaft fracture. However, complications still exist. Numerous investigations have been carried out on earlier phase of fracture healing with interlocking nail.Purpose: In this research, a three dimensional model of bone with antegrade interlocking nail in post fracture healing phase during gait cycle is studied. Additionally, published results of others, obtained under different boundary condition, are discussed. Stress distribution pattern in femur with dynamised nail and static nail are investigated. Results: Three dimensional model of the third generation composite femur was considered in which simple stainless steel Gross Kempf femoral nail was inserted in the medullary canal. Simulation was performed with the assistance of Abaqus analysis finite element codes. Two different loading patterns were used in simulations: Simple loading pattern, and Full muscle loading.Discussion: Results were verified through simple analytical beam column model. Good agreement between analytical and numerical results was found. Results proved the importance of exact boundary conditions for interlocked femoral nail testing and simulation. Fifty percent increase in bone stress level after removal of proximal screw was observed.
