Abstract: 

Background & Aims: Inability to calculate the dose in intensive care units is the most common medical errors. Which can lead to serious injuries and even death in very badly ill patients Objective: The present study aims to determine the medicine computation ability of nurses who engaged in ICU in Rasht didactic remedial research centers2016-17.Material & Methods: This research is an analytic descriptive study which nurses' drug calculation ability incritical care units from hospitals affiliated to Gilan Univ Med Sci 2014-2015.Data collection tool was a dimerism questionnaire that the first part included 7questions about. Individual occupational and second part included 4 questions about mathematics related to metric unit’s conversion and 10 questions aboutdrug intra venous that used in ICU part. Data analysis was done using by descriptive statistical computation (frequency distribution, mean, and standard deviation) deductive statistics (Spearman correlation coefficient, Man whitny, ChorsicalValis) Result: The findings showed that drug calculation ability level in study samples was 75% in good level 7.19% in medium level and 33.3% in poor level, only Based on the ward significant difference was observed in the ability to calculate drug (P=0.0001).Most drug calculation ability in the Department of Cardiac Surgery, General Razi was the lowest in the sector and there was a medium positive direct relation between the metric units conversion ability and the medicine computation ability (r=0.504) and R2=0.176 Indicates that 17/6 percent calculation ability of medication is linked to their ability to convert metric units.Also The percentage of correct drug calculation is 21.67 percent.Conclusion: Based on the findings, that there is little correlation between the ability to calculate drug and the ability to convert metric units Also, due to the low percentage of correct calculation drug samples under study. The importance of proper planning in order to improve drug calculation seems necessary.

Abstract: 

Background & Aims: Renal transplantation is one of the main treatments for patients with end stage renal disease. Although transplant can lead to a better quality of life, long term survival and reduce costs, but not free from of complications. Due to the promotion of quality of life and awareness of complications and self-care these patients is special important, Therefore, this study was carried out to determine the effect of family-centered empowerment model on the quality of life of the kidney transplantation patients reffered to the the Urmia Imam Khomeini University hospital in 2016.Material & Methods: This research is a quesi-experimental study in two groups of experimental and control that accomplished on 60 kidney transplant patients and 60 active member of family met the inclusion criteria reffered to the Urmia Imam Khomeini University hospital transplantation center in 2016. After sampling by purposive, subjects (60 patients) were randomly assigned to experimental (30 patients and 30 active member of family) and control (30 patients and 30 active member of family) group. The research tools were demographic and kidney transplant questionnaires (KTQ25).For experimental group, family-centered empowerment model was implemented with four dimensions of perceived threat, problem solving, educational partnership and evaluation, and control group were care by the kidney transplant part usual care. Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytic statistic with SPSS version 20.Result: The mean total score of quality of life in experimental group before intervention was (3.97±1.05) and after intervention was (5.80±0.77) that was statistically significant (p=0.0001). Independent t-test revealed that there was statistically significant difference between the mean total score of quality of life in between experimental and control group after intervention (p<0.05).Conclusion: In general, performing family-centered empowerment model is effective on quality of life promotion self-efficacy, in kidney transplant patients.

Abstract: 

Background & Aims: This bibliometric study was designed to assess and compare the quantity and quality of Iranian nursing scientific productivity indexed in Web of knowledge and Scopus.Material & Methods: Citation data retrieved from both databases in 10 of August of 2017 were transferred to Microsoft excel and analyzed based on bibliometric indices.Results: The first Iranian nurses publication in Scopus dated to 1967 and in Web of knowledge to 1991. To date, the scientific productivity of nursing field was exponentially increased in both databases. There were 3056 and 1622 publications till 10 of August 2017 in Scoops and Web of knowledge, respectively. The journal of Hayat with 210 in Scopus and International journal of medical research and health sciences with 107 publications were the top journals where Iranian nurses preferred to publish their scientific output. Ahmadi with 56 papers In Scopus and Azizi with 140 papers in Web of knowledge were the most prolific authors. Citation per paper and h.index of the papers published in Scopus was 1.9 and 62 while the same indeces of the papers published in Web of knowledge were 3.19 and 26, respectively. Tehran University of Medical Sciences with 925 and 441 publications in Scopus and Web of knowledge took the first place and Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences with 475 followed by Islamic Azad University with 187 publications took the second place, respecively.Conclusions: Iranian nursing field publishes more than 38 scientific journals. Few of them are indexed in the well-known databases. Iranian nursing researchers along with publishing papers in the journals with high impact should index their journals in the internationally-recognized databases to augment their visibility and indices such as citation and h. index.

Abstract: 

Background & Aims: Today in Nursing Education, Active learning techniques are considered a good alternative to traditional methods and In this regard, the implementation of Team-Based Learning (TBL) is one of the choices ahead. The aim of this study is Determination of The effect of the implementation of Team-Based learning (TBL) On Learning Diabetes Course in Nursing Students.Materials & Methods: The present study is a Quasi-experimental of One group before and after. From a design modified TBL was used to present topics related to diabetes for the second year nursing students. After designing standardized tests, students in this course, After pre-test Participated in a fivehour TBL workshop And to evaluate the survival of subjects the post-test was performed After three months. A Students understand of the TBL method survey questionnaire at the end of the period was in their possession. Finally, the data were analyzed by statistical analysis software SPSS (Ver.20) and descriptive and analytical tests.Results: The Mean and Standard Deviation of students’ pre-test and post-test scores were 15.60±2.62 and 27.50±3.57 Respectively, That in this regard the difference between them were significant. As well as Significant difference were observed between the Individual Readiness Assurance Test and the Group Readiness Assurance Test scores. By sex Separation, only students’ scores difference were significant in the IRAT (P<0.001). As well as strong and weak students had benefited equally from TBL. The students gave positive views in the TBL satisfaction questionnaire.Conclusions: According to TBL Ability in test performance and survival of Contents improvement, this approach can be considered in nursing education as an alternative approach to traditional methods; for this purpose that the quality of nursing education improvement can lead to improved quality of services that they provided at the bedside.

Abstract: 

Background & Aims: Considering the effects of domestic violence on psychological and physical health of family members, the aim of the current study was to explore the experiences of domestic violence in husbands of women with interpersonal dependency.Materials & Methods: In the study semi-structured interviews with 18 husbands of women with interpersonal dependency were investigated thorough secondary data analysis by thematic analysis method.Results: Data analysis led to extract 3 main themes and 10 Subthemes included: 1) psychological abuse (jealousy and distrust, uncontrolled emotional reactions, reassurance seeking, restriction and exclusivity, responsibility overload by husband, continuous use of manipulative strategies), 2) im posing psychological pressure for initiating sex, persistence husband physical stimulation for initiating sex, mutual stress in sexual relation), and 3) physical violence (physical maltreatment against husband, selfinjury, and physical maltreatment against children).Conclusion: Based on the results, husbands of women with interpersonal dependency are subjected to domestic violence by their spouses. The results could be useful at risk assessment, determine therapeutic routs, and management of domestic violence in women with interpersonal dependency.

Abstract: 

Background & Aim: In order to improve patient safety were forced to strengthen the safety of monitoring systems. It is also necessary to reform its weaknesses and to develop it among the staff. This study aimed to determine the status of patient safety culture in the Medical Center of Imam Reza in Tabriz and factors affecting it.Methods & Materials: This study is a descriptive-correlational research. The study population included surgical nurses. The data collection instrument included Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics and independent t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate linear regression analysis were employed using SPSS V20 statistical software.Results: In the dimensions of patient safety culture, the highest mean scores are related to dimensions of organizational learning- continuous improvement, support of hospital management of safety and general perception of safety culture, and the lowest mean scores are related to dimension of teamwork between organizational units, matters related to employees and non-punitive response to errors. Pearson correlation test results in age (P<.01) and work experience (P<.05) had a significant positive correlation with patient safety culture. In the regression model only the age variable had a significant impact on patient safety culture (B=.988, CI% 95=.097-1.880, P=.030).Conclusion: In order to increase the quality of care and safe care, patient safety culture were a priority in Management plans and Increase staff awareness of patient safety, promote patient safety in hospitals is provided.

Abstract: 

Background & Aims: Breast milk is the best food for infants due to physiological and psychological benefits to mother and child. However, breastfeeding in Iran decreases with increasing infant age from month to month. So, the present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between breastfeeding self-efficacy and pattern and its effective factors.Materials & Methods: This prospective cohort study was conducted on 350 women who were admitted to the postpartum unit of Kowsar hospital during the last 24 hours. Sampling was done in two steps. The demographic and obstetric questionnaire and breastfeeding self-efficacy scale were completed in the hospital and then Then, at the two time (1 and 3 months after delivery), the breastfeeding checklist was completed by telephone. Data were analyzed by t-test, Chi-square and logistic regression.Results: Of the participants in the study, 88.3% had breastfeeding initiation in the hospital, and in the third month after delivery, 78% had exclusive breastfeeding yet. Breastfeeding self-efficacy was not optimal (57.28±7.65). Initiation of prenatal care in the first trimester of pregnancy, the start of breastfeeding in 1 hour postpartum and breastfeeding self-efficacy predicted exclusive breastfeeding in the third month after birth.Conclusion: Efforts to encourage mothers to breastfeed intervene to enhance breastfeeding self-efficacy and also paying attention to the position of health personnel in promoting breastfeeding should be included in public health policies to prevent early breastfeeding cessation.

Abstract: 

Background & Aims: One of the native models of care that designed to increase self-care, adherence and performance of chronic patients is Continuous Care Model. The aim of this study is to critically evaluate the applicability of the Continuous Care Model in the care of chronic patients.Materials & Methods: In this descriptive study, 28 interventional articles in the field of continuous care model that had been published during the past 10 years, were evaluated. The instrument was the articles applicability check list in which its validity and reliability had been confirmed. We used the SPSS ver.16 and descriptive statistics for data analyses.Results: The compliance with the applicability criteria among 28 articles were discussion about the application of findings in clinical practice and future research, 39.3%; explanation of the application of the findings, 39.3%; lack of exaggeration about findings, 67.9%; application of theory in the research findings, 100%; recommendation, 64.3%; limitations, 46.4%; lack of clear conclusion, 53.6%; identifying the clinical applicability, 67.9%; presenting the clinical applicability based on the exact findings, 57.1%.Conclusion: The analysis of results demonstrating studies in which used the continuous care model as a theoretical framework did not completely fulfill the applicability criteria. Three important aspect of research application must be considered when using this model of care, including research, management and education.
