Introduction: In this study we aimed to evaluate the protective effect of aqueous extract of Achillea millefolium on sperm parameters in vitro fertilization against cyclosporin A-induced embryo toxicity. Cyclosporin A is an immunosuppressant drug widely used in organ transplantation to prevent rejection. cyclosporin A reduces the activity of the immune system by interfering with the activity and growth of T cells. Achillea millefolium, a widely distributed medicinal plant, is highly regarded for its medicinal activities, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.methods: In this study, 44 adult Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups as control, Cyclosporine (30 mg/kg), Achillea millefolium (150 mg/kg) and Cyclosporine-Achillea millefolium group (30mg - 150 mg/kg). At 21 and 45 days Sperm characteristics and fertility Evaluated.Result: The Cyclosporine treated group showed significant (P<0.05) decrease in the sperm count, sperm viability and in vitro fertilization. Achillea millefolium co-administration caused an increase in above-mentioned parameters. Conclusion: These findings manifested that Achillea millefolium aqueous extract may be partially protective against Cyclosporine -induced embryo toxicity.

Introduction: Intense training sessions may affect multiple organ systems, especially the immune system and blood variables, that may have different effects on athletic performance, and these effects are unknown. The purpose of this study has been to investigate the effects of single session of high intensity activities on humoral immune and blood lactate levels immediate, 24 and 72h after exercise in Kabaddi athletes.Methodology: For this reason ten elitist Kabaddi athletes (age 21.5±1.6 years, height 174.12±2.4 cm and weight 62.4±4.1 kg) took part in this study that the type of it was mid experimental. Subjects were asked to perform high intensity exercises in length of 110 min.Blood samples were taken at pre, immediately, 24 and 72h after exercise and Lactate maximum (Lacmax) were measured throughout exercise. Data were analyzed by using paired sample student T-test and General liner model, and we used of SPSS 18 for this reason (P<0.05).Results: All levels of immunoglobulins were decreased immediately after exercise, but Lacmax had significant increase. After 24h, the amount of IgG (955.38±0.6) was decreased and the amount of IgM (210.16±1.1) and IgA (288.25±2.4) were decreased than before and immediately after exercise, and all immunoglobulins were significant after exercise rather than before exercise (P<0.05). Also, Lacmax levels after this period has increased insignificantly compared to before exercise (P<0.05). IgG levels (1230.41±3.2) increased after 72-hour recovery period, so that this increase compared to before, immediately after and 24 hours after exercise was significantly (P<0.05). The amounts of Ig M (162.02±1.01) and IgA (238.32±0.98) after this period of rest had insignificantly decreased (p<0.05). Lacmax value was a significant difference between immediately after and 24 hours after this period (P<0.05).Conclusion: The results showed that 24 hours after high intensity exercise, blood lactate level and amount of immunoglobulin have changes, that in some cases this rest period may be effect to restore some of the variables to basic levels and about others, more time is required. Then, the use of proper rest periods vary according to a variable and it must apply in training programs with needs of training.

Introduction: Timely diagnosis and effective treatment of tuberculosis infected patients, are the key elements for decreasing infection transmission to healthy population and the key to achieving the goal of disease elimination. This study aimed to study the efficiency of DOTS in treating patients with smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis in Mazandaran province. Methods: The present cohort was carried out on 683 patients with smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis registered in prevention and combat of diseases unit of Mazandaran University of medical sciences in the period of 2004-2009. Of them 362 were in DOTS group whereas, 321 were in self-administered group. After investigating the characteristics of the contextual variables and the homogeneity of groups, treatment results were compared by chi square and poison regression. Analysis was carried out by stata 11.Findings: 51.9 percent of infected patients were female. The mean age of patients was 49.73±21.57. No significant difference was observed by age according to gender (p=0.8).Treatment success and failure in DOTS group was 92 and 8 percent respectively, however, in the self-administered treatment group the success and failure in treatment were 83.2 and 16.8 percent respectively.Discussion and Conclusion: Treatment success in self-administered group was 2 percent lower than WHO’s target, however this figure was 7 percent higher than WHO’s target in DOTS group. If health centers treat all tuberculosis cases with DOTS, treatment success will reach to more than ninety percent, which goes beyond WHO’s target.

Abstract:

Introduction: In lateral side of the lateral cord is part lateral pectoral nerve and musculucutaneous nerve. Before piercing of the coracobrachialis muscle. the cord gives a muscular branch to this muscle from its lateral side. After sending muscular branches to biceps brachii and brachialis it pierces the coracobrachialis muscle and coures downwards for a long distance at the middle of the arm into lateral forearm skin, that named as lateral forearm cutaneous nerve. Finally it is shape at the middle of the arm, lateral root median nerve. variation in the course and branching of lateral cord is important for surgical and radiologists specially in relation to surgeries involving this region.Case report: During routine dissection of upper limbs on an adult male cadaver for education medical students of Zabol Medical Sciences University, variation in the course and branching of lateral cord was noted. The lateral cord was found to pierce the coracobrachialis muscle. Before piercing, the cord gave a muscular branch to this muscle from its lateral side. After emerging from the muscle, it divided at the middle of the arm into two branches. The medial branch corresponded to the lateral root of the median nerve, where as the lateral branch corresponded to the musculocutaneous nerve. The latter coursed giving muscular branches and finally it bifurcated giving two terminal branches. The lateral branch formed the antebrachial cutaneous, while the medial branch coursed downwards for a short distance deep to the brachial artery. Interestingly, this branch joined the median nerve forming communication with it.Discussion and Conclusion: During embryologic development of the procedure generated this variation in the course and branching of lateral cord of brachial plexus. obviously, Such intercommunications between musculocutaneous nerve and median nerve have great clinical importance in the diagnosis of related neurological disorders and surgical procedures in this region.
