Introduction: Manpower is the most important input in any organization. Unfortunately, despite the importance of this issue in organizations such as hospitals, few studies have addressed this topic. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between trust and organizational identification and characteristics of the nursing practice environment and their dimensions in Tehran City hospitals.Materials & Methods: In this descriptive-correlational study, 200 of nurses from nursing management categories according to Morgan table and simple random selection method were participated. Data were collected by "Trust and Closure Audit Questionnaire created by Learning Center" and “Measuring organizational traits of hospitals: The revised Nursing Work Index". The validity of the instruments were measured by content validity and reliability was assessed by Cronbach's alpha of 0.90. Data was analyzed by SPSS/20.Findings: The proportion of high-level (2.51) trust and organizational identification and characteristics of the nursing practice environment is at the lower level (2.30). Trust and organizational identification and characteristics of the nursing practice environment and all of its dimensions (P<0.05, r=0.474) except the employment relationship (P>0.05, r=-0.020) have a direct linear relationship. Moreover, characteristics of the nursing practice environment and trust and organizational identification and all of its dimensions (P<0.05, r=0.474) have a direct linear relationship. Conclusion: Trust and organizational identification and characteristics of the nursing practice environment, also characteristics of the nursing practice environment and trust and organizational identification and all of its dimensions have a direct correlation. The hospital managers can improve performance and ultimately a positive step in improving the quality of nursing care and safety, by the promotion of trust and organizational identification and characteristics of the nursing practice environment.

Introduction: Pressure sore have been considered as a major health care problem. Nurse's knowledge about factors related to pressure ulcer can decrease pressure ulcer. The aim of this study was to determine factors associated with pressure sore in patients admitted to the orthopedic ward.Materials & Methods: In this descriptive study, 330 patients from four orthopedic units of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences were selected by convenience sampling method. The data was collected by using "Nursing Care Observation Form". The form was validated by content validity method and inter-rater agreement method was used for reliability (Correlation Coefficient=0.85). Data were analyzed by SPSS/15.Findings: Many factors such as; attendant, training in regard to prevention of pressure sore, massage, changing patient position, skeletal traction, moving aid, external objects in bed, trapeze and floating map had significant statistical correlation to pressure sore (P<0.05). In Logistic Regression Model "have no attendant" was the most important factor of pressure sore (P<0.01).Conclusions: Many factors can cause pressure sore in the hospitalized patients. Therefore, teaching of students and healthcare providers about pressure sore care related factors and the necessity of applying pressure sore prevention in at risk patients before the ulceration is very important.

Abstract:

Introduction: Recording patient care is an important monitoring method to determine the correct registration and evaluation of treatment and care. Therefore, developments of a valid and reliable instrument to measure quality of nursing records are required. The aim of this study was development and psychometric measurement of “Assessing Quality of Nursing Records Checklist”.Materials & Methods: This research was a methodological study. First, studies were reviewed, “Assessing Quality of Nursing Records Checklist” with 57 items and 4 dimensions was developed. Content Validity Index (Waltz & Bausell) and face validity was measured using point of view of 20 nurses. Reliability was also determined by intraclass correlation (ICC) method. Data was analyzed by SPSS/19.Findings: For measuring content validity index of “Assessing Quality of Nursing Records Checklist”, items with more than 79% was retained, therefore, items in the final stage were reduced to 42 items. In addition, findings showed that there are 4 dimensions in the “Assessing Quality of Nursing Records Checklist”. Furthermore, it was indicated that value of ICC was 0.96.Conclusion: The “Assessing Quality of Nursing Records Checklist” was developed with 42 in 4 dimensions which was valid and reliable. Due to lack of valid and reliable checklist for measuring the quality of nursing records in Iran, use of the developed checklist can facilitate the evaluation process. Measuring other types of validity such as construct and concurrent validity is also suggested.

Abstract:

Introduction: Measuring Activity of Daily Living is one of the best ways to evaluate conditions of patient, treatment and rehabilitation outcomes, quality of life, and progress of the disease in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate psychometric properties of instruments measuring activities of daily living in patients with COPD.Materials & Methods: In this systematic review study, all papers published during 1980 till 2014 in both Persian and English language related to activities of daily living in patients with COPD were included. SID, Iran Medex, Irandoc, Magiran, CINAHL, Google Scholar, Web of Science, PubMed databases were searched using the keywords: activity of daily living, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, questionnaire and instrument. “Consensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments" were used to assess and select the studies. Data Extraction Form which was developed by research team consists of 17 questions, was used to collect data.Findings: In this study 13 self-report instruments for assessing activities of daily living in patients with COPD was found. Study results indicated that, 4 of 13 known instruments measured the activities of daily living, while 9 instruments assess other criteria, like dyspnea and disability as ADL indicator. Conclusion: The instruments which measure ADL in patients with COPD have under studied the psychometric properties. Lack of explanation of ADL in COPD patients before instruments development as well as presenting a rigorous theoretical framework are other problems associated with these instruments. Therefore, researchers should use these instruments with cautious.
