This article aims to determine the indicators by which the consistency of the couple in temperament and morality is measured. In this paper, the ethical consistency is defined and its position in Islamic traditions and the moral qualities that both wife and husband should have, are reviewed. Then, ethical consistency which is defined as: "Equality of both wife and husband in possessing the same moral values and necessary qualities of their own gender in the married life" is discussed in different aspects. The paper using the descriptive-analytic method, analyzes the traditions received ont how to select a wife and then points out the couples' rights and introduces the good wives and husbands and finally concludes that in order to select a wife and for recognizing her moral similarity, the husband should take into consideration two general criteria: "wisdom" and "piety" and pay attention to four basic indicators: "good temperament", "chivalry", "committing no sin" and "amiability". Good temperament is made up of four minor indicators of: toleration, forgiveness, affection and modesty. Chivalry consists of chastity financial and sexual loyalty to husband, generosity and good temperament in social interactions. Among the sins, most emphasis has been placed on drinking and amiability has been described as honesty. Thus, in short, to prove the ethical consistency, there are two general criteria, four basic indicators and nine minor qualities.
