Family is the largest training school in which most of the human emotions are shaped and a suitable setting to manifest human excellence and potentials is provided. In order for this small but significant social unit to have such function, it should be formed based on a careful and proper selection and the relationships within the unit especially the relationship between spouses should be based on ethical codes and indication of emotions. This is when the true peace is manifested within the family and the true meaning of accommodation (family as a place to live) is clarified. There are continuously a variety of factors inside and outside the family which threaten it and make their pathology from a perspective of ethical and educational aspects a necessary task for the researchers. One of these harms is the sexual relations before marriage which may cause disputes and conflicts in the family and if not quickly solved can finally lead to the family breakdown. In this paper, applying the library method and descriptive-analytic approach, the author tries to explore some of the problems occurred in the family as a result of previous sexual relations of each of the spouses before marriage and to reveal the effects of such behaviors from the viewpoints of ethical principles and offers some solutions.

The present essay using the descriptive-analytic method tries to respond to this question that what educational backgrounds exist for the children before their birth based on the Quranic verses. Some of the issues discussed in this article are: the significance of childbearing in Islam, the basic duties of young couples who intend to bear children and …. Some of the couples' duties in this regard are: purification of the soul, strife to develop and strengthen the notion of piety, chastity and modesty and to stabilize the spiritual personality formed during people's adolescence and youth which can be applied to train later generation. Also discussed in the article, necessity of paying special attention to selecting spouses and later to prenatal care, the Importance of nutrition and its impact on the child's body and soul, the importance of environment, society and the role of heredity from the perspective of Qur'an.

Imam Muhammad Ghazl has devoted a part of his important works to the issue of choosing a partner for marriage and has discussed its different aspects in details. Ghazl's perspective to the process of selecting a wife is influenced by his religious-mystical methodology and concerns his general view towards salvation. His viewpoint about the notion of selecting a spouse should be explained within the frame of outward sciences which are categorized in the vast circle of Religious Sciences. In his works, Ghazl discusses the benefits and harms and reasons of selecting a partner and points out some criteria for making the right choice. This essay elaborates on different aspects of Ghazl's viewpoints about this issue.

Celibacy is an integral part of life for every young person that is terminated by marriage and entering a new stage of life. Chastity is the most important moral duty of a single person and has an outstanding influence on the spiritual journey of a young person towards God. This paper aims to elaborate on the meaning of chastity, to explain why it is important and to point out its ethical characteristics on the basis of religious culture. From a religious perspective, chastity, with specific semantic attributes, contains many moral qualities and is inconsistent with many vices. The importance of chastity is to the extent without which it is impossible to move in the direction of human perfection and happiness. Clear explanation of the ethical characteristics of chastity, will reveal that many of sexualand emotional relationships among young boys and girls in our present society are not acceptable. This paper consisting of three parts of definition of chastity, spiritual and ethical values of chastity and ethical characteristics of chastity, tries to elaborate on this subject.

This article aims to determine the indicators by which the consistency of the couple in temperament and morality is measured. In this paper, the ethical consistency is defined and its position in Islamic traditions and the moral qualities that both wife and husband should have, are reviewed. Then, ethical consistency which is defined as: "Equality of both wife and husband in possessing the same moral values and necessary qualities of their own gender in the married life" is discussed in different aspects. The paper using the descriptive-analytic method, analyzes the traditions received ont how to select a wife and then points out the couples' rights and introduces the good wives and husbands and finally concludes that in order to select a wife and for recognizing her moral similarity, the husband should take into consideration two general criteria: "wisdom" and "piety" and pay attention to four basic indicators: "good temperament", "chivalry", "committing no sin" and "amiability". Good temperament is made up of four minor indicators of: toleration, forgiveness, affection and modesty. Chivalry consists of chastity financial and sexual loyalty to husband, generosity and good temperament in social interactions. Among the sins, most emphasis has been placed on drinking and amiability has been described as honesty. Thus, in short, to prove the ethical consistency, there are two general criteria, four basic indicators and nine minor qualities.

In contest to the dominant and ancient view of the sanctity and desirability of marriage, we can witness formation and development of a belief which considers this act, and not just its relevant consequences, unethical and although admits some of its psychological or social benefits, criticizes it in terms of ethical principles. This article attempts to examine this view and assess its strengths. Accordingly, three main arguments expressed by this view against marriage and my considerations and arguments about them will be reported. The first argument highlights the impossibility of enduring love, which is essential in marriage. The second argument stresses the risk and perils of getting married and based on the third argument there is an inconsistency between emotions and rationality in marriage. Using the findings of evolutionary psychology, biological studies and social psychology, the author of the paper analyzes these arguments from an ethical perspective. Following a mere philosophical approach, not a narrative one, the paper attempts to indicate inefficiency of the above mentioned arguments. In the end, the author offers some moral reasons for the acceptability of marriage and considers it defensible.
