Abstract:

Background and Objectives: Fear of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) may lead to sexual disinterest and frustration and affect sexual function. This study aimed to determine the relationship between fear of Covid-19 disease and the sexual function of married people. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, 400 married residents of Qazvin participated in 2020. Data was collected as random multi-stage clusters. The study tools included the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) in Men and Female's Sexual Function Index (FSFI) in Women, and Coronavirus Fear Questionnaire (FDCS). Data were analyzed using independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Spearman’, s correlation test. Results: There was a significant reverse relationship between the fear of coronavirus and the total score of female sexual function (r=-0. 261, p= 0. 007), but there was no significant relationship between the fear of coronavirus and the total score of male sexual function (r=-0. 060, p= 0. 812). The mean score of sexual function of men and women in people with a fear of having sex and employment in health centers was significantly lower, while in people that used sex flirting was significantly higher (p<0. 05) Conclusion: Fear of Covid-19 disease may harm the sexual function of married people, especially women, and reduce their quality of married life. Therefore, to prevent the destructive psychological effects of the epidemic, more attention and interventions are needed to improve sexual function.

Background and Objectives: The process of chronic diseases and aging is associated with reduced telomere length. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and low-intensity interval training (LIIT) on telomere repeat binding factor 1 and 2 (TRF1 and TRF2) in Soleus (SOL) muscle as a slow-twitch (ST) and Extensor Digitorum Longus (EDL) muscle as a fast-twitch (FT) of mice skeletal muscle. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, the subjects were C57BL/6 mice (n=24) that were randomly divided into four groups of 6 mice: 1-Base control, 2-control, 3-high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and 4-lowintensity interval training (LIIT). The exercise included 5 days a week for 8 weeks. The gene expression of muscle tissues was measured using RT-PCR. The data were evaluated using two-way ANOVA with Tukey’, s post hoc test. Results: By comparing ST and FT muscles (p=0. 791) and HIIT and LIIT groups (p=0. 164) and also the interaction between muscle type and training intensity (p=0. 929), there was no significant difference in the expression of TRF1 gene. There was no significant interaction between TRF2 gene expression in ST and FT muscles at different intensities (p=0. 868). But the results of Tukey’, s post hoc test showed that in terms of TRF2 gene expression, HIIT (p=0. 031) and LIIT (p=0. 035) groups showed more increase compared to the control group. Conclusion: HIIT and LIIT similarly improved the telomere system in skeletal muscle of both muscle types, and this system was more affected by telomere elongation effect of TRF2.

Background and Objectives: One of the most common problems in the general population is somatization symptoms. Therefore, identifying the factors that play a role in causing these symptoms will be effective in preventing their occurrence. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the relationship between object relations patterns and somatization symptoms mediated by alexithymia. Materials and Methods: The method of this research was descriptive modeling. For this purpose, 295 people living in Semnan in the age range of 18 to 60 years were selected by convenience sampling method and answered the questionnaires of Bell Object Relations, somatization symptoms (PHQ-15), and Toronto Alexithymia with an internet survey in February and March 2021. Data were analyzed by Pearson’, s correlation test and structural equation modeling. Results: The results showed that this model has a good fitness, and there was a significant positive relationship (p<0. 05) between object relations patterns and somatization symptoms (T= 3. 601, β, = 0. 538) and alexithymia (T=11. 756, β, = 0. 800), but no significant relationship was observed between somatization symptoms and alexithymia (T=0. 816, β, =0. 110) and as a result, the mediating role of alexithymia in data analysis was not significant (p>0. 05). Conclusion: These findings show that by identifying the object relations patterns in individuals, it is possible to predict the likelihood of developing somatization symptoms and alexithymia to some extent. Therefore, it is recommended that clinical therapists need to consider the object relations patterns of the individuals with somatization symptoms in communicating with them.
