Introduction: Hydrocephalus, due to the disabilities it causes for children, also causes many problems for their mothers. The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of implementing a familycentered empowerment model on the empowerment of mothers of children with hydrocephalus. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 60 mothers of children with hydrocephalus participated and were randomly divided into intervention and control groups. A demographic questionnaire, a researcher-made family-centered empowerment tool, was used to collect data. Questionnaires were completed by the participants before the intervention. Then, for the intervention group, a familycentered empowerment model was implemented with four steps of perceived threat (perceived sensitivity and perceived severity), self-efficacy, self-esteem and evaluation in 5 sessions. One week after the intervention, the competency questionnaire was completed by the samples in the intervention group and simultaneously in the control group. Results: The mean score (standard deviation) of the total ability of mothers of children with hydrocephalus before and after the implementation of the family-centered empowerment model was 26. 62±,(4. 08) and 32. 87±,(5. 09), respectively, which had a significant increase (p <0. 05) But there was no significant difference in the control group. Conclusions: Implementing a family-centered empowerment model improves the empowerment of mothers of children with hydrocephalus.

Introduction: Given the many negative consequences associated with adolescent depression, researchers are trying to gain a better understanding of the factors involved in causing and exacerbating the symptoms of this disorder. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the "psychological flexibility of mother in parenting" with adolescent depression after statistical control of the effect of maternal depression. Methods: To investigate this goal, the descriptive-correlation method was used The study population consisted of first-grade high school students in Tehran, Boldaji, and Hamedan and their mothers in the academic year 2019-2020. 432 adolescent mothers were selected by multi-stage cluster random sampling. Inclusion criteria were living with both parents and the mother being literate (at least fifth grade). Adolescents living in welfare-supervised centers (homeless) were excluded from the study. Data were collected using psychological flexibility in parenting Questionnaire, Depression, Anxiety and Stress Questionnaire, and Adolescent Self-Reporting Questionnaire. Results: The results showed that there was a statistically significant positive relationship between adolescent depression and maternal depression (p = 0. 001). Also, "maternal psychological flexibility in parenting" had a statistically significant negative relationship with adolescent depression (p = 0. 001). Also, after statistical control of the effect of maternal depression, "psychological flexibility of the mother in parenting" was able to significantly predict adolescent depression (p = 0. 001). Conclusions: More psychological flexibility in parenting causes the mother to be more involved in positive parenting practices and positive parenting practices are associated with less depression in children.

Abstract:

Introduction: Both performance-based and rating measures are used to evaluate preschool children’, s executive functions. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between performance-based tasks and parental rating of executive functions in preschool children. Methods: The present study was a descriptive correlational study. The current study population consisted of all 4 and 5-years-old preschool children in Mashhad, of which 121 children were selected by the available method. Research tools were included Forward Digit Span working memory task, Backward Digit Span working memory task, Day-Night Inhibitory Control task, Happy-Sad Inhibitory Control task, and Preschool Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function: parent form (BRIEF-P). Regression algorithms based on tree decision, support vector machine for linear regression, support vector machine for kernel regression, multilayer perceptron neural network, and random forest were used to analyze data. Results: The results showed that in all regression models used, in the diagrams related to the train data, the regressor tried to predict the output correctly, but this prediction was not generalized to the test data, in other words, it is not possible to Using the functional tasks of executive functions, predicted the clinical scales of the BRIEF-P questionnaire. Conclusions: According to these findings, performance-based tasks and rating measures of executive functions cannot be used instead of each other or as parallel tools, and each of them evaluates different aspects of executive functions that are appropriate to the research purpose. Both areas of evaluation are helpful and valuable but provide different information.

Abstract:

Introduction: Stress is an undeniable fact and is known as one of the most important causes of diseases. Adolescents are one of the age groups that are exposed to various stresses, Parents parenting methods also have a significant impact on how adolescents develop and develop their personalities. Due to the importance of this issue, This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between parenting styles and coping styles in adolescent girls in Gonabad in 2018. Methods: The present study was performed with an Analytical-cross-sectional approach on 310 adolescent girls aged 12 to 16 years in Gonabad by stratified sampling method. Data were collected through a demographic information questionnaire, Bamrind parenting style, and stress management questionnaire among adolescent girls. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 16 and descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation coefficient. The significance level was less than 0. 05. Results: According to the obtained results, the average age of students' parents was 14. 25, 46. 05, and 41. 75 years respectively. The results showed that the highest mean was related to the decisive and reassuring style and the majority of parents had high scores in this style. According to this study, there was no significant relationship between parenting styles and stress coping styles of adolescent girls, while in this study most parents (more than 90%) had authoritative parenting style, and more than 50% of adolescents have used problem-oriented stress coping styles to manage their stresses. Conclusions: The findings of the present study showed that most parents had high scores in authoritatively rational style. However, the lack of a significant relationship between parenting styles and stress coping styles can indicate that issues such as gender differences, normative changes in adolescence, virtual networks, etc. should also be considered. Therefore interventions in teaching and training coping styles, especially in girls are recommended.

Abstract:

Introduction: Children under the age of five are the most vulnerable group in terms of domestic accidents, most accidents occur among children at home. The aim of this study was to determine the attitude and practice of mothers with children under five years of age covered by Bushehr Comprehensive Health Service Centers "on preventive behaviors" from home accidents and its relationship with home accident care. Methods: In this cross-sectional comparative study, 122 mothers with children under 5 years of age (with and without the occurrence of domestic accidents) participated in which two-stage clusters were randomly selected. The data collection tool is a standard questionnaire on Zahedinia's attitude and practice in relation to domestic accidents. Results: There was no significant difference between the scores of attitude in the two groups of mothers with and without events, but the performance score of these mothers was significantly different and the chance of occurrence decreased with increasing performance (P = 0. 037) while the rate of attitude Awareness did not have a significant effect on the incident (P <0. 05) Conclusions: The results of this study show that mothers' performance has a significant effect on reducing accidents. Incorporating educational programs to improve mothers' performance skills on home accident prevention behaviors can be an effective step in reducing the occurrence of accidents and their physical effects on children.
