Abstract:

Introduction: BiochaninA (BCA) is of interest due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Oxidative stress and inflammation are key pathways in the development and progression of T1DM. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of biochaninA on the serum levels ofTNF-a, IFN-y, as well as the levels of GSH and MDA in the pancreas of rats infected with T1DM with streptozotocin. Methods: 28 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4groups of 7each. A healthy control group received DMSO, the solvent of biochaninA. The rest of them were subjected to peritoneal-injection of streptozocin at the rate of 55mg/kg. One group was selected as a diabetic control(the second group)that only received DMSO, and the other two groups were treated with biochaninA at the rate of 10mg/Kg(the third group)and 15mg/Kg(the fourth group)for 6weeks. At the end, blood was collected from the heart and the parameters of TNF-a, IFN-y and FBS were measured in the serum. Then GSH and MDA factors were measured in the homogenized pancreatic tissue. Results: The reduction of blood glucose and MDA was significant in treatment groups. GSH increased significantly with treatment. The reduction of TNF-a was significant only in the fourth group, but the reduction of IFN-y wasn't significant in any treatment group(P<0. 05). Conclusions: BiochaninA treatment is effective in controlling hyperglycemia. By increasing the level of GSH and decreasing MDA, this combination is important in improving the redox conditions in the pancreas, and by reducing the serum level of TNF-a, it improves the inflammatory conditions caused by diabetes and helps to reduce complications. No significant difference was observed between treatment doses.

Abstract:

Introduction: The traditional experiences of families in the field of infant care are in many cases equivalent to the teachings of traditional medicine, but it is not clear to what extent these experiences are rooted in the written works of traditional medicine. Methods: In this study, content related to neonatal care was extracted from the book Summary of Experiences, and then by searching for relevant articles in traditional Persian medicine and modern medicine from the databases of pubmed, google scholar, iran magazine, etc., the content was categorized and finally compared with Baha’,al-Dawlah Razi views. Results: In the book “, Summary of Experiences”, , there are solutions for caring for infants both in the field of prevention of the occurrence of complications in childhood and in the field of treatment and elimination of these complications, through which Baha’,al-Dawlah Razi, like other scholars before him, how to bathe the baby, how to breastfeed the baby properly, how to swaddle, and also by determining the criteria of a suitable environment in terms of light, sound and temperature, as well as in the field of Mann has suggested some of the complications of childhood, such as earache, insomnia, and crying in infants. Conclusions: Due to the high similarity of the recommendations of Baha’,al-Dawlah Razi with the recommendations of other Iranian physicians before him, the book "Summary of Experiences "can be considered as a complete example of the recommendations of Iranian physicians in the field of infant care.

Abstract:

Introduction: From the point of view of Iranian medicine, each person has a unique temperament and two people can never be considered similar despite their appearance. Temperament is affected by three physiological, anthropometric and psychological factors. One of the important indicators of mental health in the field of psychology is self-esteem. The relationship between psychological variables and temperament is among the gaps that need more research. Therefore, the present study investigated the relationship between self-esteem and temperament in young non-athletes. Methods: This research was a cross-sectional-analytical method that investigated the relationship between two temperaments (hot and cold) and self-esteem in young non-athletic male students in the fall season of 2018. After obtaining written informed consent from the applicants present in the research, the sample size was determined in the warm temperament group of 94 people and the cold temperament group of 93 people. Temperament classification of the subjects was done through the temperament diagnosis questionnaire (Mojahedi 2014) based on the type of temperament. Also, the self-esteem level of the subjects was evaluated with the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSE). Due to the non-normality of the data, the differences between the groups were analyzed with the U-Man-Whitney test in the SPSS version 21 software environment. Results: Based on the obtained results, there are significant differences between the warm and cold temperament groups in the sub-components of self-esteem, self-worth in the cold-tempered groups with an average rank of 79. 60 and warm-tempered groups with an average rank of 100. 58 (P = 0. 006). And the feeling of satisfaction was seen in the cold-tempered groups with an average rating of 77. 23 and warm-tempered with an average rating of 103. 23 (P = 0. 001), so that the self-worth and satisfaction indicators in The warm-tempered group had the highest rating compared to the cold-tempered group. Conclusions: The results were such that warm-tempered people had significantly more self-worth and satisfaction as components of self-esteem than cold-tempered people. In general, the self-esteem index as one of the variables of psychological sciences was higher in warm-tempered people.

Abstract:

Introduction: Although many treatments reduce cough and its complications, cough is still one of the most common and annoying problems of patients who refer to medical centers. Therefore, finding simple and effective treatments is of great interest to the medical community. This study aimed to determine the types of cough and find simple and effective therapies based on Persian medicine (PM). Methods: This research is a kind of narrative review study. Firstly the keyword “, soaal”,(cough) in authentic Persian medical manuscripts was investigated using Jame Teb software version 1/5 of the Computer Research Center of Islamic Sciences [Noor]. After data gathering, types of coughs and their diagnostic signs and symptoms and appropriate treatments were identified and categorized. Data analysis was done by directed content analysis. Furthermore, some of the common recommendations were discussed from the point of view of conventional medicine. Results: Based on the results of this study, from the point of view of PM, there are different types of cough, including hot and cold post nasal discharge, hot, cold, humid, dry, cough caused by loud noise or dust, and smoke, cough caused by lung ulcer, swellings, participatory cough, and children's cough. The type is determined based on the patient's clinical symptoms and detailed history. The appropriate treatment is selected based on the type of cough, such as gargling, fumigation, anointment, warm compress with drug, bathtubs, poultice, decoction, cupping, leech, and phlebotomy. Conclusions: Considering the wide range of treatments mentioned for different types of cough, it seems that using the opinions of PM and paying attention to the type of cough can open a new window for researchers to find new treatments.

Abstract:

Introduction: One of the methods to control of the effects of hypothyroidism, especially in pregnancy period, is the use of non-medicated methods such as muscle relaxation, which can be taught by different methods. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of muscle relaxation training in both face-to-face and distance methods on sleep quality in pregnant women with hypothyroidism. Methods: This quasi-experimental study with pre-test-post-test design was conducted in 2020 in Najafabad Comprehensive Health Service Centers. The sample consisted of 66 pregnant women with hypothyroidism. Convenience sampling method and random allocation of samples (using Excel program and patients' file numbers) were used in both face-to-face and remote groups. Written informed consent was obtained from all samples. The data collection tool was the Petersburg Sleep Quality Questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 16 at a significance level of less than 0. 05. Results: The results showed that before training, the mean total score of sleep quality disorder and its dimensions were not significantly different between the two groups (P > 0. 05). After training, the mean score of sleep quality disorder in the dimensions of sleep delay, sleep duration, sleep efficiency and daily dysfunction was not significantly different between the two groups (P > 0. 05), but the mean total score of sleep quality disorder and the dimensions of mental quality of sleep and sleep disorders in the face-to-face training group (total sleep quality disorder score: 3. 27 ±,0. 25) were significantly lower than the distance education group (total sleep quality disorder score: 5. 67 ±,0. 60), (P < 0. 05). Conclusions: Face-to-face training is an effective method in muscle relaxation training as a safe intervention in reducing sleep disorders of pregnant women.
