Abstract:

Achieving sustainable development requires coordinated, balanced growth in a variety of dimensions. Social and family structures have an indisputable contribution to the institutionalization of this movement. With changes in strategic decision making, the family system in Iran has undergone major changes. In this paper, an attempt has been made to look into the impact of policy-making cycle as regards problem-finding on the family as the core of the country's population and ultimately on sustainable development. The resource constraints make it necessary to carefully select the policy agenda, while it is seen that many years after implementing a macro policy and emergence of its widespread effects on the target community, it is realized that the issue was not really significant enough. What causes this damage? To find the answer to this question, conducting a library study, ten family and population experts were interviewed using the in-depth interview method. The data so collected were analyzed using grounded theory method and were structured in the framework of the Strauss-Corbin systemic model. Factors such as weaknesses in policy-making, poor supervision, national shortsightedness, and managerial instability are among the factors that lead to mistakes in problem-finding and result in such consequences as reproduction of the challenges.

Abstract:

This study has been conducted to give child-parent-relationship-based play therapy treatment (according to Landreth’s Model) to mothers and evaluate its impact on reducing students’ negative achievement emotions. The statistical population included all the primary school students in Tehran's 8th Education District in the academic year 2016-2017. A sample of 60 students was selected using the random cluster sampling method and divided into two groups (30 in experimental group and 30 in control group). To compare the changes in the students' emotional scores, a control group was used. Both groups took negative achievement emotions tests in three stages: pre-test, post-test and follow-up. The experimental group received ten 1.5-hour sessions of child-parent-relationship-based play therapy treatment (according to Landreth’s Model). The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Since the research design included repeated measurements of two groups and negative emotions have five dimensions, to analyze the research hypothesis, multivariate analysis of variance was utilized. The instrument used in the study was Pekrun’s Negative Achievement Emotions Questionnaire, and after the play therapy sessions, this instrument was administered to all the subjects. According to the findings of this study, it can be concluded that giving mothers child-parent-relationship-based play therapy treatment significantly reduces elementary school students’ achievement emotions.

Abstract:

The objective of this research is to evaluate social mobility from the perspective of marriage among the families residing in Tehran. The present research work specifically seeks to answer the following questions: Are marriages traditional or modern in Tehran? How is the spouse selected in Iran? Have married couples selected their spouses from their own social group or from other social groups? Based on the current spouse selection pattern, are men or women more likely to exit their social group? Which variables govern one’s upgrading his/her social group? All couples living in Tehran constituted the statistical population of the study. Based on Cronbach's alpha, a sample of 380 was selected, from among whom 357 questionnaires were collected and finally analyzed. The results indicated that people tend to leave their social group in the marriage process and men tend to follow an upgrading choice more than women. Meanwhile, variables such as education level, income level and the type of job are male enhancement factors. In spouse selection, acquired traits, the family, and ultimately traditional values are high on the list of priorities.

Abstract:

This article deals with how marriage is represented in Iranian Cinema. The statistical population includes all the Iranian movies produced from 1997 to 2012, in which one of the main characters is somehow involved in her/his marriage. Using the quantitative content analysis method, this article has analyzed 116 movies and answered 30 questions related to how marriage has been represented in these movies. These questions focus on such issues as the way the couple get acquainted, the way marriage is proposed, the way marriage is celebrated, parity between spouses, mehrieh, the age and job of bride and bridegroom, affinity between the couples, and quality of honeymoons. In addition, an attempt has been made to see how issues such as obstacles to and challenges of couples’ marriage or the amount of interfering (triangular) love have been represented in the studied movies.

Abstract:

The present research is aimed at studying the underlying factors of divorce in the socio-cultural context of Tehran. This is a qualitative study conducted on the basis of grounded theory method. The required data were collected using the purposive sampling method and semi-structured interview. To achieve theoretical saturation, 22 individuals who met the requirements were investigated. To find out the factors, the collected data were analyzed using Strauss and Corbin’s techniques, which included coding the concept formation. Data analysis in open coding led to the identification of the main factors, components, and sub-components. The results revealed that lack of love and intimacy are the central factors of the pattern of the findings. Lack of preparation for marriage and the failure to properly follow the process of marriage are among the casual factors for marriage breakdown. Cultural and economic issues were included among the intervening conditions, and such issues as addiction, the inappropriate structure of the current family, lack of marital compatibility, sexual problems, inappropriate relationship with the families of origin, family background, and personality problems are among the underlying factors that impact divorce. The results showed that the use of ineffective communication and emotional strategies resulted in consequences such as a feeling of fatigue, loneliness, despair, hatred of the spouse, and ultimately a desire for divorce.

Abstract:

The present research was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of temperamental traits and parenting styles in predicting impaired autonomy and performance, other-directedness and over-vigilance areas of early maladaptive schemas. The research method is descriptive-correlational. To this end, 397 students of Qom seminaries and universities were selected using the random stratified sampling method. The sample completed Cloninger's Short-Form Temperament-Character Inventory (TCI-SF), Young's Parenting Styles Inventory (YPI) and Early Maladaptive Schema Questionnaire-Short Form (YSQ-SF). Correlation test and simultaneous regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The results revealed that the parenting styles of impaired limits (p<0.05), impaired autonomy and performance and novelty-seeking, harm avoidance and persistence as temperamental traits (p<0.01) are the most important predictors of impaired autonomy and performance area of early maladaptive schemas. Furthermore, the results of regression analysis indicated that the parenting style of other-directedness area and temperamental traits of reward dependence and persistence significantly (p<0.01) predict the other-directedness area of early maladaptive schemas. Also as to over-vigilance area, over-vigilance parenting style (p<0.05) and the temperamental traits of harm avoidance and persistence (p<0.01) have a significant predictability potency. These findings show the important role of temperamental traits and parenting styles as the developmental roots of the domains of early maladaptive schemas.
