Aim: The provision of statistics according to the type of specialized activities to monitor the services provided in different parts of the hospital is important. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of determining the functional indicators of hospital admissions at Shahid Mohammadi Hospital of Bandar Abbas in 2018.Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional retrospective study used data from the statistical center of the Shahid Mohammadi Hospital in Bandar Abbas in 2018. Selected indicators including bed occupancy rate, bed turnover rate, mean length of hospitalization and active/fixed bed ratio, were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, deviation criterion, and percentage) and Excel 2010 and SPSS 16 software.Results: In the present study, bed occupancy rate was 86.19, bed turnover rate 0.88 days, mean length of hospitalization 3.68 days, and active/fixed bed ratio was 2.6%. Most days of admissions are in the ICU section and the lowest is the postal coat. The mortality rate is the highest in internal ICU, internal ward in the neurology, and the least minimal in the eye surgery section.Conclusion: Given the fact that the performance of healthcare organizations is directly related to human life, the findings of this study can be helpful in healthcare policy and effective use of hospital beds.

Aim: One of the most commonly used methods for evaluating the academic activities of a university is the scientometrics that is made possible using databases. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating the scientific production of researchers affiliated with Shiraz University of Medical Sciences with an emphasis on national and international contributions using ISI data during 2010-2017.Methods: This is a descriptive-applied study using scientometric methods. Data were selected via searching ISI and research society of the study was 6555 records. Citespace and VOSviewer software were used to draw maps and Excel software was used to analyze the data.Results: The findings showed that the researchers of this university are among the most prolific researchers and have the greatest relationship with each other, and the internationally-acclaimed university has had the largest participation with Thomson Jefferson University, Iran and Russia are among the most influential countries in the national communication network in the scientific products of the University of Medical Sciences Also Iran is more willing to engage with the United States, Canada and Australia. Most of the products are also published in English and the Iranian Red Crescent Medical Journal. The subject of "General Public Medicine" was the most studied.Conclusion: Collaboration in a joint compilation between the authors of the university and writers abroad is of an acceptable level. In general, the scientific production and scientific cooperation of researchers affiliated with this university has been growing. Identifying top authors will help in this upward trend.

Aim: Improper use of medications in any of distribution and prescription stages is called medication error which is preventable. The consequences of medication errors include increase in death rate, duration of hospitalization and medical costs. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of common mistakes of nurses in the intensive care unit of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences teaching hospitals.Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, the total nurses of intensive care unit of children hospitals and Shahid Mohammadi hospital in Bandar Abbas (totally 50 people) in 1394 were selected. The data collection tool was standard questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS software and descriptive statistics.Results: The most important causes of drug mistakes in all areas prioritize as, 41% extra fatigue, shortage of nurses per patient in 40%, high density of jobs in 40%, and the least factor related to miscarriage time 2.9%.Conclusion: Regarding the nurses' drug mistakes, tutorial classes in relation to pharmacological information and modifying the education process, encouraging and encouraging nurses to report mistakes and positive responses of nursing managers to error reporting is suggested.

Aim: The hospital library is being established to disseminate clinical information for medical practitioners such as doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, paramedics and hospital managers. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of hospitals in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in providing specialized information for specialized physicians.Methods: The present study was carried out through a survey-analytical method in 2015.Sample size of 84 professional physicians and librarians working in 10 educational hospitals of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences based on Cochran formula and using random sampling. Two separate researcher-made questionnaires were designed for specialist doctors and librarians and the data were collected. SPSS software version 22 and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data.Results: The results showed that specialist physicians use the first priority to solve medical, research and educational issues from hospital libraries for personal study, resource lending and the use of publications. Also, selective dissemination services are provided in only 50% of libraries. Limiting the hours of the library and the lack of information resources about the major problems of doctors and budget constraints, the lack of expert librarians and the lack of resources and equipment are one of the most important problems in hospital libraries.Conclusion: Considering the importance of information in medical area, the hospital libraries should transform the type and manner of their services provision and using the information technologies possibilities for offering new information conveying manners.

Aim: Given the increasing amount of information, every individual needs to acquire skills and abilities beyond traditional literacy. The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of information literacy among students of rehab field.Methods: This applied study was conducted on 150 graduate students of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences of Iran University of Medical Sciences. The data collection tool was a standard questionnaire based on the Eisenberg model. The reliability of the questionnaire was calculated with Cronbach's alpha of 0.96%. SPSS software, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data.Results: The knowledge of the research community in understanding the information needs was at the average level (problem recognition) with a mean score of 2.94, in search strategies with an average score of 2.96, in the location of information with an average score of 2.80, 2, in the combination of information with a mean of 2.46 and in the evaluation of information with an average of 2.93. The overall results of the study indicated the average literacy of graduate students with an average of 2.856 ± 0.636. Results showed that there is a significant relationship between the educational level of MS and Ph.D.Conclusion: Since the status of the information literacy level of the research community was at an intermediate level, more attention should be paid to educating information literacy through conducting classes with richer content and according to new technologies among students in every field of rehabilitation. It is also necessary to use information specialists to review the functions and educational policies to advance the student research process.

The aim of this research was to evaluate research activities in Hormozgan University of medical sciences by criterions issue each year based on the indices released by Research and Technology department of ministry of health.Methods: In this descriptive applied research, the data the whole the research activities carried out at the university in 2014 where they studied. The data were collected based on the deeds and documents of the university's research and technology department were recorded in the evaluation system of the medical universities of the country. The evaluation of university research activities was conducted in the form of knowledge production, dissemination, leadership, empowerment and student research.Results: After the finalizing process of judgment Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, ranked 17 among 23 class 2 medical universities and 20 among whole 50 medical Universities of Iran obtaining 6393.98. The total score of Hormozgan University of medical sciences obtained from research checklist was 6393.98.Conclusion: level of research activities in Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences has experienced an increasing trend, but due to the changes in the policies of the Ministry of Health, toward the increase of the quality of research productions and the importance of designing programs being accordant to the policies of the ministry of Health on the other hand, the university can change the goals and plans of the research and focus on improving the quality of research activities and also provide the appropriate basis, in order to upgrade the level of health services in the state.
