Abstract: 

One of the most interesting issues for power system operators is the load curve variability and non-uniformity that causes the power system to have higher operation costs. Power systems usually use high capacity and long-lasting storage units for operational storage and high speed response storage for frequency saving. To compar operation storage and frequency and to evaluate their impact on cost-effective power system operation, This paper attempts to analyze the role of pumped storage, compressed air storage and battery storage systems in an IEEE standard 118-bus test system (54 thermal units) by GAMS software. The simulation results show that the pumped storage units are more cost-effective opration performance than other two types of storage equipments. However, battery storage due to their lower start-up cost units are better than compressed air energy storage with higher capacity.

Abstract: 

In this study, we have used panel data to estimate the demand for electrical energy in industrial sector for selected provinces (Tehran, Isfahan, Khuzestan, Markazi and Hormozgan) during period 2001-2013. Variables used in this model include real value added of industrial sector in the selected provinces, real price of petroleum products as a substitute variable, real price of electricity and number of industrial subscribers. The results of the model indicate that in the short run by increasing electricity price by one percent, the electricity demand is reduced by five percent. Petroleum products act as complementary goods for electricity. There is a significant positive relationship between electricity demand and number of subscribers and value added of the industrial sector.

Abstract: 

The use of compressed natural gas as a clean fuel in the transportation sector is growing around the world. Moreover, regarding the growth of vehicle use in Iran and due to the higher fixed investment requirements, finding the suitable locations is an important issue. The flow refueling location model is one of the models that have proposed recently to find refueling locations. In this study, finding the best CNG locations for two major suburban routes of Tehran consist of Tehran- Firoozkooh and Tehran- Semnan has been studied using the flow refueling location model. The results showed that the selected place to build a CNG station in Tehran- Firoozkooh route is at the end of Tehran-Damavand road before the Boomehen fire station with geographical coordinates (35.74,51.85) and the selected place to build a CNG station inTehran-Semnan route is in the Eyvankeh petrol station in the beltway Eyvankeh with geographic coordinates (35.35,52.05).

Abstract: 

Energy carriers prices, especially gas-oil and gasoline affect people’s life via cost of ransportation. This paper tries to explore the inflation caused by gas-oil and gasoline prices. In our model, gas-oil price, gasoline price, money volume, exchange rate, budget deficit and GDP are considered as variables affecting inflation in Iran. Thereupon, long term, short term and error correction models were estimated by ARDL method. The results show that the price of gasoline has a significant effect on inflation in the Iran’s economy. So that, every one percent increase in gasoline price, can raise the inflation rate at 1.112 percent. Furthermore, the price of gas-oil has a meaningful effect on the rate of inflation in Iran. So that, every one percent increase in the price of gas-oil can raise the inflation rate at 0.748 percent.

Abstract: 

Although the environmental impacts of renewable energies have been broadly investigated, their importance in ensuring energy security has received less attention. This study has investigated the potential of solar electricity generation Ahwaz county, from the energy security point of view. The land erea of Ahwaz county were prioritized based on the geographical, environmental and human factors using fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making and GIS. The results show that the solar energy in Ahwaz county has a great impact on enhancing energy security and has more flexibility regarding natural and human threats. Using only 3.3 percent of lands in the area, it is possible to generate as much electricity as needed in Khuzestan province. Thereby, it is possible to decentralize power generation, which in turn leads to increase the security of energy supply. This amount of solar electricity generation can contribute to reduce the emissions by about 109000 tons per year.

Abstract: 

Energy Service Contract is an important method for energy saving. While taking some degree of risk, Energy Service Companies implement the energy-saving projects in the form of energy performance contracts for energy consumers (clients). This kind of contracts enjoy some new, subtle and different features. The question is whether this type of contract can be classified as a new contractual form? If not under which type of existing contract forms are they classified? In this paper, the framework of shared savings and guaranteed savings contracts as the main types of energy performance contracts is reviewed. Documents issued by the Ministry of Petroleum are compared to some certain contracts, including sales, promise of reward, hire-purchase and partnership; it is concluded that this specific kind of contract, is not compatible with any of the definite contract types mentioned above. Hence these contracts should be recognized under the principle of sovereignty and freeness of wills, Article 10 of the Civil Code. it is argued that these contracts are not marred by the risk of loss, so they are not defying the specific terms of law. it is argued that the structure of shared saving contracts is the same as of the reward contract under the definite contracts.

Abstract: 

The growing demand of power has made the power plants of scientific interest, but most of the power plants are designed by the energetic performance criteria based on first law of thermodynamics only. The real useful energy loss cannot be justified by the first law of thermodynamics, because it does not differentiate between the quality and quantity of energy. The objective of this paper is to perform the energy, exergy analysis for the Besat steam power plant located in Tehran. The results show that energy losses have mainly occurred in the condenser where around 77% of the total power plant energy losses are lost to the environment. Nevertheless, the exergy destruction rate of the boiler is higher than the exergy destruction rates of the other components. It is due to the fact that the combustion reaction and its high temperature are the most significant sources of exergy destruction in the boiler system. The second large exergy destruction occurs in the turbine system. So significant improvements potential exist in the boiler and turbine unit.
