Abstract:

In today's world, it is speaking of "leap of science" and "information explosion", two complementary phrases. Researchers all over the world are decrypting a plenty of unknown mysteries, from the smallest genetic and molecular issues to the most complex secrets of the space. The Iranian scientists are no exception to this fact. Science production has remarkably grown in Iran during the past years. Around 30, 000 scientific articles of Iranian researchers are published in the international journals every year. This rate shows a 20-fold growth compared with three decades ago (1). According to the SCImago Journal & Country Rank website, Iran with 333, 474 articles published during 1996-2015, is in 22nd rank in the world and 2nd rank in the Middle East in terms of publication numbers (2)...

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Malassezia furfur is the causative agent of Tinea Versicolor. Due to create drug-resistant, now day the use of herbal medicines has been the subject of speculation. The aim of this study was to determination of alcoholic and aquatic extract antifungal effect of bitter olive fruit on the Malassezia furfur. Methods: Extraction was performed using simple distillation from bitter olive fruit. Wells diffusion method and tube for determination of extracts antifungal effect and minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) were applied, respectively. The data were analyzed with SPSS using two-way ANOVA test. P-value less than 0. 05 was considered statistically significant. Findings: Highest mean diameter of growth inhibition zone was observed around of well containing 110 mg/ml of aqueous, ethanolic and methanolic extract that were 19± 1, 29. 33± 2. 3 and 40± 1 mm, respectively. The excellent MIC was related with ethanolic extract of bitter olive fruit and equal to 390. 625 mg/ml. The extract type and concentration had a significant impact on growth inhibitory zone around fungus and anti-growth effect was better at higher concentrations (p <0. 05). Conclusion: The antifungal effect of bitter olive fruit in this research was proved. Due to human society abundant use of herbs, finding the best herbal extracts with anti-fungal effects and fewer side effects is necessary.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Mental health is defined as social coordinated behavior and adapted ability with social realities. Occupational stress is introduced as one of the strongest factors in the development of mental disorders. The effect of occupational stress on health care workers is significant. The aim of this study is to determine the correlation between occupational stress and mental health of Surgical Technologists and Technicians of operating room section. Methods: In this correlative descriptive study, all of the surgical technologists in Bojnurd Hospitals were selected through purposive sampling method. To record data, GHQ-28 and Hospital Stress Scale questionnaires were used. In both questionnaires, the higher scores were indicated the worst conditions. For data analysis, statistical tests such as Chi-square, independent t-test were performed using SPSS. Findings: The mean score of occupational stress and mental health were 104. 5± 12. 3 and 23. 3 ± 9. 1 respectively. The results displayed that there was a positive and significant correlation between mental health and occupational stress (p=0. 006, r=+0. 381). Relations between occupational stress and mental health with variables such as sex, marital status, education, salary, occupational and residency status were not significant. Conclusion: Findings show that the level of occupational stress in surgical technologist is in medium level and there is a positive relationship between occupational stress and mental health. Results; insist on the necessity for protection and rehabilitation programs to reduce the level of occupational stress.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women. Surgery is the first line of treatment. Side effects of Surgery and disease can affect negatively on quality of life (QOL) domains. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of discharge planning on the QOL in patient with breast cancer. Methods: This study was a randomized clinical trial on 69 women with breast cancer, eligible patients were assigned to intervention and control groups. In the control group hospital’ s routine program implemented. In intervention group, discharge planning consisted of preoperative teaching, postoperative follow up, two client visits and 6 phone calls during the 6 weeks immediately following discharge. The instruments used in this study were demographic and QOL questionnaire which was combination of two questionnaires 36-Item Short Form Survey and Quality of Life Instrument-Breast Cancer Patient Version and Discharge Planning Checklist. Completed at recruitment and 6 weeks after surgery for patients. Finally the obtained data were analyzed using SPSS software and statistical tests. Findings: Based on the results obtained, there were no significant differences between two groups in average score in physical, mental, social, spiritual domains and quality of life before intervention. After intervention, there were statistically significant differences between two groups in QOL (p<0/001) and all its domains (p<0/001). Conclusion: The results demonstrated that discharge planning in breast cancer patients undergoing surgery is as an effective follow up program which can be an effective approach for improving QOL.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: According to suitable ecological conditions and being endemic of Mazandaran province for many parasitic agents, present study was done for determination of rate of parasitic infections in patients referred to Ayatollah Rohani hospital in 2015. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was performed on 4478 fecal samples were collected from patients referred to Ayatollah Rohani hospital between April 2015 and March 2016. The samples were examined with direct wet mount and formalin-ether concentration methods. The data were analyzed using Chi-square tests and SPSS. Findings: Of the 4478 samples studied, 370 (8. 26%) were positive for parasitic infection. Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba coli and Giardia lamblia were the most common causes with the prevalence of 2. 56%, 1. 6% and 1. 45%, respectively. The infection rate in male was higher than from female (p<0. 05). Rate of infections in rural areas in comparison to urban regions did not showed any significant differences. Most of the infections were seen in autumn compared with other seasons (p=0. 02). Infection rate was more common in 31-49 age group and lower infection rate was observed in age group of less than 11 years (p=0. 025). Conclusion: According to prevalence of parasitic infection in Babol, which are important in terms of medical and clinical aspects, thus using an effective controlling systems is proposed for decreasing food and water contaminations.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Intrauterine fetal death is not only a tragedy for the families, but is also one of the most important complications of pregnancy. Important factors, such as mother, placenta and fetus, can lead to stillbirth. The aim of this study was to investigate the causes of and factors associated with stillbirth in Babol, north of Iran. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, all women with a diagnosis of intrauterine fetal death who referred to Shahid Yahyanejad hospital during a period of one year; were included. After reviewing the medical records of patients, information of mothers, placenta and fetus were recorded in prepared forms. SPSS 18 statistical software was used to compare variables. Findings: In total, 6979 births were performed, of which 68 cases were reported as intrauterine fetal death. In this study, the rate of intrauterine fetal death was 9. 7 per 1, 000 live births, more frequently seen in 20-34 years old mothers. Abnormal labor, fetal meconium and fetal abnormality were among the causes of stillbirth. Conclusion: Identification of the predictive causes and factors of intrauterine fetal death are difficult. However, with proper care and effective counseling, screening and early detection of problems for mother and fetus of pregnant women with a history of intrauterine fetal death, and also with accurate assessment of similar problems during pregnancy; can reduce the incidence of fetal death.
