Abstract:

Backgrounds: Colon cancer is the most important cancer around the world and the colonic microflora and Diet makes an important contribution to cancer. This has led to intense interest in factors such as probiotics that can modulate gut microflora and its metabolism. Methods: In review article were collected by searching in informative bank such as www.isi web of knowledge.com, www.Scincedirect.com and www.scopus.com between 1995 to 2012.The keywords probiotics, Neoplasms (Cancer), Lactobacillus and Bifidobacreium were used for searching.Findings: The strongest evidence for the anticancer effects of probiotics comes from animal studies, and evidence from human studies (epidemiology and experimental) is still limited. There are several possible mechanisms that might explain how probiotic bacteria might protect against tumor development in the colon. However, questions such as what is the major contributing mechanism for a particular bacterial strain, or how are the different mechanisms linked are questions to which we currently do not have the answers. It is possible that different strains target different mechanisms. All of the mechanisms have various degrees of support, mainly originating from in vitro and animal experiments, and some of them even have some support from human clinical studies. Conclusion: More research needs to be done to identify the specific strains and strain characteristics responsible for specific antitumor effects and the mechanisms by which these effects are mediated. More clinical trials are needed to better understand the exact underlying mechanisms, and to strengthen the suggestions that probiotics could play a major role in preventing colonic cancers.

Abstract:

Background and Purpose: Despite today’s high-speed scientific progress and the efforts of the scientists in the world to determine a clear boundary between the two domains of illness and health, this issue still has remained a major weakness of medical science. The vague definitions of these domains, lack of identifying the source of many diseases and treatments failure by physicians, has caused not only Physicians but also many scholars are encouraged to pay attention to principles of the medical philosophy. In this context, the arrival of Ali (AS), to medical philosophy and related intellectual debates is what compared to all religious leaders and philosophers of science has distinguished him.Method: In this review is used conceptual analysis. Data collection was done by search in scientific and religious resources Included Quran and Hadiths interpretation books and databases such as pub med, MAGIRAN،SID, IRANMEDEX and ISI.Results: From the viewpoints of Imam Ali (AS); human is a great and perfect creature and as the largest world (Alame Akbar) is considered as well as Disease and treatment are hidden within him. It is amazing that medical scientists throughout the world after many failures in the treatment of many diseases, without the knowledge of the scientific theory of Imam Ali (AS) are close To this unique theory. This regard interdisciplinary discussion of (Psychoneuroimmunology) as the vanguard of these discussions considers human as a Perfect of multidimensional existing and influenced by Chemical-psychological-social and environmental aspect and provides treatment of diseases based on multi-dimensional human approach Using modern concepts of physiopathology. Conclusion: Although the, understanding the basic concepts of excellent philosophy theory requires of the immense scientific endeavors and serious scientific trials But undoubtedly, with a deep understanding of this theory would be developed a common language among different treatments doctrine and New treatments would be developed for overcoming diseases.

Abstract:

Background and objective: Impaired appetite and food intake are among the major risk factors of malnutrition in advanced kidney failure. On the other hand, the effect of obesity is affirmative in dialysis in contrast to normal population. This study aimed to compare the appetite and food intake between obese and normal weight patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methods: In this case-control study 48 obese patients (BMI≥30kg/m2) and 52 normal weight patients (18.5<BMI<25kg/m2) under hemodialysis were studied using 24-hour dietary recall (two dialysis and two non-dialysis days) and ADAT questionnaire (The Appetite and Diet Assessment Tool). The statistical analysis were performed by Nutritionist 4 and SPSS 22.0.Results: Appetite status was significantly better in obese group (P=0.03). Energy intake was 32.5±12.8 kcal/kg and protein intake was 1.33±0.51 gr/kg in whole the study population, which were not significantly different between groups. No significant differences were observed between groups in terms of energy and protein efficacy compared to the recommendations. However, energy intake in 59% of normal weight and 53.5% of obese group, and protein intake in 43.6% of normal weight and 48.8% of obese group were less than the recommended values. Micronutrients intake showed no significant differences between groups. Potassium and phosphorus intake were higher than recommendations in 24.4% and 32.9% of patients respectively. Conclusion: Despite the better appetite status in obese patients, the mean intakes of energy and protein were not statistically different between groups. However, a considerable percentage of patients had less intake compared to the recommended energy and protein values in both groups. Thus, it seems that higher BMI is not a reliable indicator of appropriate nutritional intake in hemodialysis.
