Background and Objective: Angiogenesis and expression of angiogenic factors in tumor are associated with increased risk of metastasis and reduction of treatment outcomes. This study was performed to evaluate the effect of endurance training on the angiogenic factors (VEGFR-2, VEGF) of tumor in breast cancer bearing mice. Methods: In this experimental study, 20 BALB/c mice following breast cancer induction were randomly allocated into two groups of experimental (n=10) and control (n=10). Breast cancer tumors were induced by MC4-L2 cell infusion. Animals in the experimental group were received endurance training for 6 weeks, 5 days a week with gradual increase in intensity from 12 to 20 (m.min-1) and duration from 25 to 55 minutes. Tumor volume was measured weekly with digital caliper. Expression of two angiogenic proteins of VEGFR-2 and VEGF were measured by ELISA method. Results: Endurance training significantly reduced VEGFR-2 protein in training group (1.524±0.324 ng ml-1) compared to the control group (2.686±0.815 ng ml-1) (p<0.05), whereas, there was no significant difference in the VEGF protein in the training group (734.633±110.131 pg ml-1) compared to the control group (756.317±72.32 pg ml-1). The tumor volume significantly decreased in the training group compared to the control group (p<0.05).Conclusion: Regular endurance training induces anti-angiogenic effects in tumor tissue of breast cancer bearing mice.

Background and Objective: Curcumin is a combination of active polyphenol from the Curcuma Langa plant, which has extensive biological activities including effects anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and cytotoxic markers for multiple cancer cells. Berberine is an alkaloied isokinolin that is present in berberine and suppresses the growth of many tumor cells. This study was designed to determine the antibacterial effect of berberine and indium curcumin and indium diastile curcumin complexes against E-coli and Bacillus pumilus and comparison of their cytotoxicity on the cell lines of the bladder and stomach cancer cells. Methods: In this descriptive-analytic study, antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity effect of berberine and indium curcumin and indium diastile curcumin complexes was investigated by MTT and dilution test method respectively. E-coli [BL21 (DE 3)], Bacillus pumilus (PTCC 1529), cell lines of bladder (5637) and stomach (AGS) were evaluated. Results: The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of berberin for E-coli was determined 5 mM. At 100 micromolar concentration of berberine approximately 100% of the bladder cancer cells have disappeared. Cytotoxic effect of curcumin complexes on two bladder and stomach cancer cell lines showed that both complexes have different inhibitory effects on cell line life. Cytotoxicity of 20μM indium curcumin and indium diastile curcumin complexes for bladder cancer cells were 58% and 55%, respectively, and for stomach cancer cells were 61% and 34 %, respectively. Antibacterial activity of complexes against Bacillus pumilus and E-coli showed that none of the complexes has antimicrobial effect againstBacillus Pamilus, but both complexes inhibited the growth of E-coli bacteria. The bacteria population in the presence of indium curcumin and indium diastile curcumin complexes was reduced to 40% and 24%, respectively. Conclusion: This study indicated that indium complexes of curcumin and diacetyl curcumin have a potential for anticancer and antibacterial therapy. Furthermore, berberine as an alkaloid has anticancer and antibacterial activity.

Finally, the antifungal activity of essential oil of Zataria multiflora specie loaded liposome was evaluated the minimum fungicidal concentration, minimum inhibitory concentration and zone of inhibition against Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Results: Thymus essential oil loaded into liposome with over 80% efficiency. Optimal formulation contained of 10% cholesterol, 90% soybean phosphatidylcholine phospholipid with 3% of polyethylene glycol and also Thymus essential oil with concentration of 0.5 mg/ml. Nanoparticles were anionic with spherical shape and size less than 100 nm. There was no chemical interaction between liposomes and essential oil. Prepared formulation was chemically stable and the essential oil had not retained during encapsulation. Medicinal-nano system of Zataria multiflora specie was effective in inhibition of the growth of Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Conclusion: The preparation of optimal liposomal formulation containing Thymus essential oil is affected by the type and amount of phospholipid, and it was completely independent of the species of Thymus. Also, Encapsulation increases the anti-fungal activity of essential oil of Zataria multiflora.

Background and Objective: Systemic lupus erythatous (SLE) is an autoimmune disease with clinical symptoms. Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) is common in vasculitis which is reported in SLE. This study was done to determine the frequency of ANCA in patient with SLE and its association with disease activity. Methods: This descriotive study was conducted on 80 patients with SLE whom referred to rheumatology clinic in Gorgan, northern Iran during 2012-15. The patients disorder diagnosed based on the ACR Criteria. According to the disease activity the patients divided to active group and inactive group. Demographic data was completed with questionnaire and blood sample collected in order to evaluate of for serum ANCA by using ELISA method. Results: The average age was 37.5±12.4 year. Seven (8.5%) patients were males.91.5% of patients was females.27 patients (33%) had active lupus and 53 (57%) had inactive lupus. Only one patient has been reported as positive for ANCA. The patient was a 45 years woman with history of 10 years of lupus nephritis with active disease. Conclusion: There was no relationship between ANCA and disease activity. The main reason for this finding can be a few numbers of positive cases in this study.

Background and Objective: Liver enzyme tests are usually normal or slightly increased during pregnancy. Abnormal liver enzyme tests are seen in 3% of pregnancies and should be evaluated immediately. Early detection and timely treatment is the key to successful treatment. This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of abnormal liver enzymes and pregnancy outcome in women admitted to Sayyad-e-Shirazi hospital in Gorgan-north of Iran. Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out on 73 hospitalized pregnant women out of 6680 pregnant women in the Sayyad Shirazi hospital, in north of Iran during April to September 2015. Clinical information was including laboratory tests, final diagnosis and complications postpartum of 73 women with impaired liver enzymes. Results: The most common cause of abnormal liver enzymes were pre-eclampsia in pregnant women (16 patients 21.9%) which occured in the third trimester. HELLP syndrome was observed in 9 (12.3%) of patients which occurred in the third trimester. Also in 3 cases (4.1%) eclampsia was reported in the third trimester. Conclusion: Due to the high incidence of pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome in women with impaired liver enzymes, careful examination of patients, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy is essential.

Abstract:

The proximal radioulnar joint plays an important role in elbow and forearm movements. Radial head fracture involves about 20% of the elbow fractures, which is most often accompanied by other damage to the soft or bone tissue. Isolated form is about 2% and bilateral form is rare. Most radial head fractures are the result of low energy and falling down with outstretched hands. Heavy sports injuries, high energy trauma and crashes cause a breakdown with displacement and the possibility of further complications. In this article we reported a woman nurse with 35 years old whom suffered pain and swelling of both elbows due to simple falling down with outstretched hands. In the clinical examination, there was a bilateral tenderness and swelling of the elbows. Movements were decreased in right side. There was no nerve defect. In the Xray radiography, bilateral radial head fractures, Mason-type 3 at right and type 1 at left elbow were observed. Right elbow treated by open reduction and internal fixation by mini plate and screws and left side treated by conservative method. The patient was discharged with indomethacin 25 mg 3 times a day for 6 weeks and bilateral long arm splint for 5 to 7 days, active movements were begun. Subsequently, the patient was not adviced for physiotherapy. Complete movements of elbow joints were obtained in right side and left side after 8 and 4 weeks due to teratment. Precise clinical examinations and correct radiographs are necessary to diagnose the bilateral radial head fractures. Early diagnosis and proper treatment and, if necessary, physiotherapy leads to proper improvement and acceptable movements and function.
