Abstract

The quantity of books, journals and electronic resources produced, bought or those that are available in UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES affiliated to the Ministry of Science, research and Technology during the year 1381 have been investigated. The results indicated that the presented conditions as reported are not desirable in regards to minimum standards of collections in UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES. In most of the cases, the statistics presented do not seems to be realistic. This is true specially for current and back issues of Farsi and English journals. It has been emphasized that the task of compilation of this kinds of statistics needs to be based on previously completed electronic data bases supported by resources through supplying research budget.The definitions of units of counting, specially for electronic resources is another poit to be considered by authorities in national information centers and associations.
