Abstract

The research aims to identify factors and conditions affecting development of book publishing rate in Iran during the khatami government (years 1376-1383). Publishers' point of view on social factors (political and economic consistency) which makes planning and plan implementation possible have been considered.4 hypothesis concerning internal organization factors were confirmed. 6 hypothesis concerning external organization factors which had the most relationship with economic, social and political consistency of publication, were not confirmed. In general publishers view the governmental policies positive and promotive.increasing oil cost and government income, government subsidizations and buying bookd from publishers for public libraries, increasing government investment in education, development of nongovernment educational institutions, increasing book readers and... are considered positive and promotive actions which made it possible to increase the number of titles being published year after year.
