Abstract

This paper reports the results of survey conducted at Razi University FACULTY MEMBERS on needs of information and seeking behavior. Findings show that most important aims of these members for information were for research activities. The population use both formal and informal channels for information retrieval. The most formal channels were books (95.1%), journals (84.7%) and most informal channels were personal practice and contribution meetings (69.6%). Results also show that among the most important non-printed sources used is the INTERNET (97.5%) and the most important problem in accessing to the INTERNET are low networks speed and INTERNET traffic. The Major obstacles in access to formation are: lack of necessary materials in the library recourses limited for supply information from foreign country, lack of real-time access to information.
