Abstract

This research, as a case study, aimed to investigate the effectiveness of forgiveness-based life review therapy on increasing women's marital satisfaction and forgiveness in the face of their husbands' marital infidelity with a quasi-experimental method and a baseline. The population included married women referring to counseling centers in the city of Sepahan because of their husbands' marital infidelity, and 2 women were selected by the convenience sampling. They received 8 individual sessions of therapeutic intervention. The data were gathered from participants using forgiveness questionnaire and the questionnaire of marital satisfaction in the phases of baseline (2 times), therapy (4 times), and follow-up (2 times). To analyze the data, charts, improvement percent, and reliable change index were used. The results showed the effectiveness of the therapeutic intervention of forgiveness-based life review on increasing participants' marital satisfaction and forgiveness. In conclusion, this kind of therapy can be applied to improve and increase women's marital satisfaction in the face of their husbands' marital infidelity.
