Abstract

One of the controversial topics among theologians is determining the first obligation for the obliged. Mu’, tazili and Ash’, ari theologians considered Knowledge about God through Reasoning as the first obligation. They consider Reason for it to be an intellectual group and an auditory group. However they did not quarrel with each other in this approach, the difference between belief and disbelief in God is measured by the degree of awareness or lack of awareness of God. So that they consider the scholar as a believer in God and the ignorant as an unbeliever. The 10th century theologian, Ghazali opposed this theory. He removed ignorance and Knowledge about God from the duality of disbelief and faith. He considered pure attention to theology forbidden except in limited cases and separated faith from Knowledge. He ordered the People to imitate the jurists in matters of religion (rulings) and beliefs and submit to them, and disobeying the orders of the jurists deserved punishment. This article has analyzed Ghazali's theory about the necessity ofReasoning (Vojube Nazar) and the Reasoning in the Knowledge of God in a descriptiveanalytical way.
