Title

An investigation mediating role of perceived stress syndrome in the relationship between meta-cognitive beliefs and mental rumination with job performance of firefighters staff

Abstract

 Aim: This research aimed to investigate the mediating role of perceived stress syndrome in the relationship between meta-cognitive beliefs and Mental Rumination with Job Performance of Firefighters. Methods: This study was descriptive-correlational and applied research. The study population included all Firefighters in Mashhad city in 2018. The statistical population was 440 people who were selected by convenience sampling on the Morgan table. Saffarzadeh's Perceived Stress Syndrome (2000), Wells and Cartwright-Hatton's Metacognition Questionnaire (2004), Nolen Nolen-Hoeksema and Morrow's Ruminative Response Scale (1991), and Paterson’, s Job Performance Questionnaire (1986) were used to gather data. The data were analyzed through correlation and path analysis using the SPSS22 and AMOS. Results: Results showed that Metacognitive Beliefs (0. 08) and Mental Rumination (0. 14) did not affect directly by Job Performance, But meta-cognitive beliefs (0. 11) and rumination (0. 19) affected indirectly through the Perceived Stress Symptoms on Job Performance,So perceived stress syndrome play a significant mediating role in the relationship between Metacognitive Beliefs and Mental Rumination with the Job Performance. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the relationship between meta-cognitive beliefs and Mental Rumination with the Job Performance of Firefighters wad not a simple linear relationship so perceived stress can play a mediating role.
