Abstract

Recently, investors' SENTIMENT and its influence on decision making has become the focus of many studies on asset pricing. The Research has demonstrated that changes in investors' SENTIMENT may trigger changes in asset prices, and that investor SENTIMENT may be an important component of the market pricing process.Some scholars have suggested that changes in investors' SENTIMENT must be seen as the appropriate explanatory factor to explain short term movements of stock return besides other factors presented in fundamental analysis. In this article, it presented a particular benchmark on the basis of available data to explain the investors' SENTIMENT toward risk, which can be used to explain price movements within the STOCK MARKET. The designed benchmark properly shows the general status of the whole Iranian market as far as investors' SENTIMENT is concerned. Also we explained the rate of total stock return by using the aforementioned benchmark with positive statistical test.
