Abstract

In this paper the merging ability of Persian Complex verbs are provided on the view of minimalism. These analyzed complex predicates gets two hosts by a light verb regardless their idiomatic meanings. This study is to present a classification in regarding to their lexical and semantic relation. Four types are recognized: a) similarity relation between two hosts (they Are synonyms); semantic marked ness can be recognized between them, tau. b) they arc opposites; distributional marked ness can be regarded between them. c) two hosts are formed by itself or the comparative form (complete/incomplete reduplication) d)one can semantically complete the other one; complementary relation can be recognized, they both are related to each other. It was attempted to represent the role of light verb in complex predicate, the collocation of two hosts, the way of selection of them by a light verb, the entering of these in spoken language and translated texts, the insertion of them in dictionaries.
