A Step-up DC-DC Topology with High Voltage Gain Suitable for Renewable Energy Sources

Abstract

 Small and fluctuating output voltages of Renewable energy sources like solar cells and fuel cells that operate in the DC voltage zone are always a major difficulty when linking them to the national power grid. For connecting those sources to the inverters and ultimately to the electrical grid, a DC-DC bridge capable of converting the input voltage to 230 or 400 volts is needed. The conversion device must utilize a step-up DC-DC architecture with a high voltage gain. Several boost designs have been presented thus far to provide a steady voltage owing to the fluctuation of the input voltage.
