Abstract

The management of ecotourism sites is a very important issue not only for environmental organizations, but also for many governments around the world. This concern is based on the need to balance the notion of sustainability of the environment with economic sustainability. Since successful management of ecotourism will create the conditions for sustainable development of the environment and the economy, both at local and regional and at micro and at macro levels. This paper considers some management issues and approaches associated to tourism and ecotourism development to single out the best practice available for developing countries such as Iran. It is also the starting point to make comparisons with other developed and developing countries.
