Abstract

The studying of press and its functions is one of the necessary criteria for analysis of political events and social and cultural trends in every society. Since press has the direct relationship with their societies, cultural, social and political situations; therefore, they have the opportunity to analyze events and problems properly and reflect the beliefs, preferences and interests of different social forces. The major aim of this paper is to understand the attitude of the JOURNAL OF NEGIN toward the structure of political power and its relationship with the discourse of nativism during 1960-1970s. The paper applies the qualitative content analysis method and also it is inspired by the tenets of discourse methodology. The main hypothesis of the article relies on this proposition that the JOURNAL OF NEGIN reflected the aspirations, demands, values and preferences of those intellectuals who advocated nativism. The findings of the research through qualitative content analysis of Negin, s editorials, articles, poems and pictures show the critical views of Negin toward the structure of political power and its support of CULTURAL NATIVISM.
