Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of behavioral couple therapy on depression during pregnancy. 30 Couples were selected from pregnant women who met DSM- IV criteria for depression from the health centers of Kerman and were placed randomly in the experimental group (15 couples), and control group (15 couples). Both groups were assessed with Edinburgh questionnaire. The experimental couples received behavioral couple therapy for seven sessions. Data were analyzed using SPSS software. Results showed that depression in experimental group was significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05). In other words, behavioral couple therapy appeared to be effective in reduction of depression during pregnancy and postpartum depression.
