The Relationship between Shared Leadership and Organizational Commitment

Abstract

 Background: Shared leadership style is one of the important organizational variables that affect employees' Organizational commitment. This study tries to explain the relationship between Shared leadership and commitment as a moral principle among faculty members of Urmia. Method: The research was conducted by descriptive-correlation method. 183 members faculty were selected randomly as study sample. To collect research data, two standard questionnaires were used: Shared leadership and Organizational commitment. Data were analyzed by the Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regressions. Results: The results show that (A) there is a significant positive relationship between Shared leadership and Organizational commitment. (B) Components of Shared leadership (transformational leadership, transactional leadership, leadership empowerment of individual and group) can be positive dimensions of Organizational commitment (emotional commitment, continuous commitment and normative commitment) to predict. Conclusion: The use of participatory leadership style improves performance and increases the Organizational commitment of faculty members.
