Abstract

The Kopet-Dagh sedimentary basin is located in the northeastern of Iran. The latest Formation in Cretaceous is Kalat Formation that consists of sandy and bioclasstic limestone. In order to more evaluation on Kalat Formation in Kopet-Dagh basin‚ 587 samples from seven sections have been studied. Thickness of this Formation varies from 13.9m in Takal-Koh (out most west) to 277m in Tange-Nyzar (Type section).In this study some of the index Foraminifera belonged to Maastrichtian is recognized, In this study index Maastrichtian foraminifera including: Siderolites calcitrapoides, Rugoglobigerina rugosa, Bolivina sp., Pseudotextularia elegans are recognized. According to these evidences‚ the age of Kalat Formation is Maastrichtian.
