Abstract

Studying the inter-relations between language and geographical surroundings and ecology and their active relationship is a modern view in linguistics. Existance of linguistic elements in each geographical environment and culture can show the similarities and differences of the view of different groups of people towards natural and ecological phenomena. These linguistic elements have been taken from culture, needs, knowledge, and human and ecological factors; thus in different languages, words and catagorizations have inter-relation with their ecology and geographical environment. Each linguistic element is the echo of a cultural and environmental and ecological idea logy in each linguistic society, therefore in order to get to know the culture of a nation firstly it has to be shown that how the power of words is in connection with their surroundings and how it makes it. This article studies and analyzes some words such as water, fire and wind and phrases, and METAPHORs taken from them in Iranian culture and the relationship between ecological features and language and it tries to show how it made the people’s view towards the natural phenomena.
