Abstract

The importance of sustainable urban policy has made it clear that neighborhoods and local communities have an important role in the framework of the concept of sustainable development. Thus, the urban management plan is oriented towards its micro level. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the neighborhood houses in attracting the participation of citizens, regions such as Sohanak, Andisheh, Sadeqiyeh in the north, Imamat and Haft Chenar in the central region, Atabak, Shohadayeh Gomnam, Aghdasiyeh, Khani Abad and Imam Zadeh Hassan in the south are selected as the sample and are assessed b based on six categories including information and advertising, effectiveness, reliability, facilities, experience and expertise and satisfaction. The statistical population consisted of citizens aged between 20 to 50 years old and a sample of 500 individuals was selected. The research method was survey and a questionnaire was used to collect the necessary data. The results showed that the participation of citizens in the neighborhood houses is at a moderate to high level and there is a significant relationship between the variables facilities, reliability, activities, satisfaction, faculty expertise, information and familiarity and participation of citizens. The overall results showed that the performance of neighborhood houses considering the proper facilities has been effective on citizen participation. In other words, the higher the hardware and software facilities (trust, proper notification, appropriate activities, satisfaction and use of expertise), the higher the participation of citizens in utilizing facilities and programs and activities of neighborhood houses.
