INVESTIGATING THE DISTRIBUTION OF POPULATION IN RASHT CITY THROUGH DEPLOYING THE AHP METHOD

Abstract

 The population increase of cities and how to accommodate them is one of the problems of modern cities. In accordance with the necessity of preserving agricultural and natural land uses as well as reducing the costs of urban life, the optimal distribution of POPULATION DENSITY has earned a particular importance. The Optimal Distribution of density denotes on the proper distribution of population in the city and provides the optimal use of existing conditions automatically. In order to achieve such distribution, it is necessary to utilize all facilities and capabilities in urban areas including traffic, infrastructure, population trends, land prices along with several other factors. In this study, the hierarchical analysis is used as an optimal method for POPULATION DENSITY distribution in Rasht city. For this purpose 8 cores in Rasht were selected as the sample distribution which was determined after modeling the POPULATION DENSITY in the core north of the city. It was found out that and the core number 10 in the west of city had the highest density. Furthermore, the core 12 (north east) and the core number 8 which is close to ring road were found to have the lowest POPULATION DENSITY.
