Abstract

The lack of integrity in the structure of the URBAN HIERARCHY is a result of weak attention paid to the URBAN HIERARCHY and to the way according to which the urban centers are distributed, on the one hand, and the fast growth of the urbanization on the other. This process results in an increase of the number of small cities and non-importance of the role of the small and average size cities.This research analyses the influence of the GOVERNMENT SIZE on the URBAN HIERARCHY of the province of Hamedan in the period 1986-2011. The method used on this analysis is the Rank-Size rule. The results obtained from this analysis showed that the URBAN HIERARCHY of the province of Hamedan is steered towards the non-balance during the considered period. Estimating the model with regard to the influence of GOVERNMENT SIZE on the URBAN HIERARCHY of this province showed significance of the influence of the GOVERNMENT SIZE 011 the number and size of the HAMEDAN PROVINCE's cities.
