Abstract

This article is a review about some important points of NEZAMI,s KHOSRO and SHIRIN, with a moderate feminist approach. In this romance, from one hand, SHIRIN’s character seems to be very different from a traditional WOMAN, and the indicator of this, is her activism and innovation in affairs of love. But, from the other hand, MANy of negative characteristics traditionally attributed to women, like infidelity, deceitful, coquettish, sorcery, etc. are attributed to SHIRIN. I want to compare these two features: principle version of romance and its famous interpretation that present SHIRIN like an ideal WOMAN, and another version, less recognized, that MANifest some aspect of beguiling WOMAN. How much the principal personage of romance, SHIRIN, is an ideal and innovator, and how much is she a traditional and beguiling?
